Hardwood is an important material in Disney Dreamlight Valley that players will need to collect in order to continue progressing through this life sim game. Finding Hardwood can be a bit tricky, though, in no small part due to the fact that it is visually very similar to Softwood. For those players that may be having some trouble locating Hardwood in Disney Dreamlight Valley, this guide contains details on exactly where they should focus their searches.

Disney Dreamlight Valley: Hardwood Location

In order to find Hardwood, players should direct their attention to the ground near trees in the Forest of Valor, Forgotten Lands, Frosted Heights, Glade of Trust, and Sunlit Plateau. While it will take Disney fans a bit of time to access some of these areas, locations like the Forest of Valor and Glade of Trust can be reached fairly quickly. Indeed, players are likely to find their very first Hardwood in one of those two areas, and they can expand their collecting into other zones as they advance further.

With respect to what Hardwood looks like, it materializes as several sticks stacked atop one another. As alluded to previously, this is the exact form that Softwood takes, though there is a way to quickly distinguish between the two types of wood. Specifically, Hardwood is reddish-brown, while Softwood is closer to honey-brown, and this distinction should be quite clear to fans of life sim games after seeing the different woods a couple of times.

To note, one of the things that players will use Hardwood to make is the Shovel Blade. This tool upgrade will allow fans to remove mushroom-covered tree stumps in Disney Dreamlight Valley, giving them access to new parts of the Forest of Valor and the Frosted Heights. For full clarity, the Shovel Blade upgrade is earned by working on Anna's Friendship Quests, and she can be found inside the Frozen Realm that is accessed through a portal on the second floor of the Dream Castle.

One final thing to mention is that there is actually a third type of wood in the game, and it is called Dark Wood. As its name suggests, this material has a very dark appearance, and it can only be found near the trees in the Forgotten Lands. Disney Dreamlight Valley players should have a fairly solid understanding of both Softwood and Hardwood by the time that they reach that area, which should make it very easy to identify Dark Wood.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
