Disney Dreamlight Valley has just released a gameplay overview trailer providing a first look at the features and activities that will be available. Based on what has been shown in the trailer, Disney and Pixar fans along with fans of games like Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing have a lot to look forward to with the upcoming release.

First announced back in April 2022, Disney Dreamlight Valley is being worked on by Gameloft which has predominantly published mobile games from a wide variety of high-profile licenses. Ranging from the Assassin's Creed and Tom Clancy's mobile games to Disney Magic Kingdoms, Gameloft has a staggering number of titles under its belt. Disney Dreamlight Valley stands out among these as the upcoming life-sim adventure game will be a console and PC release initially before arriving on the Mac App Store. The game hosts an instantly recognizable cast of characters from Disney and Pixar films.

The new gameplay overview trailer for Disney Dreamlight Valley showcases much of the game's content and gameplay possibilities, revealing gameplay reminiscent of life-sim games such as Stardew Valley while also implementing story and quest-driven gameplay typical of traditional adventure games. The game takes place in the magical realm of Dreamlight Valley populated by Disney and Pixar characters, and has fallen into a state of decay and disrepair due to an eroding force known as "the forgetting." The player's task is to restore Dreamlight Valley to its former glory by exploring, helping characters, and completing quests.

The game features deep character customization and many life-sim features to keep players busy. Players can fish at various locations and maintain a garden with both activities sourcing ingredients that can be used to cook meals from an extensive list of recipes. Crafting will play a major role in gameplay as well, with countless items to craft from foraged ingredients. Furniture like couches, rugs, and radios along with functional items like radios and stoves can all be crafted and placed in the player's home. There's a strong emphasis on personalization, allowing players to decorate and rearrange virtually the entire game world with a level of control that resembles the creative possibilities of The Sims.

The game will enter Early Access on September 6, 2022, for players who purchase a Founder's Pack or are members of Xbox Game Pass while the full free-to-play launch will take place at an unspecified date likely in early 2023. Details regarding the free-to-play monetization are sparse at this time, although Disney Dreamlight Valley states in an FAQ that it will have "purchasable expansion options to enhance gameplay."

Disney Dreamlight Valley is currently in development and will be available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
