Although it's still in Early Access, Gameloft's Disney Dreamlight Valley has created a vibrant community full of colorful characters. Using the Disney and Pixar properties to combine beloved figures from various different films, Disney Dreamlight Valley epitomizes cozy gaming while still appealing to both adults and kids alike. Since it was first made available in September 2022, Disney Dreamlight Valley has been rolling out updates to help with bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements, but it's also been adding a steady stream of new content like events, Realms, and characters.

By completing quests and building friendships, gamers have been able to add more and more classic characters from popular franchises to their neighborhood, bringing the likes of Maui and Moana to build their own houses and huts alongside WALL-E and Remy. These unlikely combinations and the tasks they bring help to make Disney Dreamlight Valley a thriving and fun experience, even resurrecting older characters like Merlin to bump shoulders with more recent additions like Anna and Elsa.

When Disney Dreamlight Valley first launched its Early Access period, the game was a little thin on the ground as far as characters were concerned. Iconic Disney figures like Goofy and Mickey Mouse were early neighbors that helped players get acclimatized to their new environments, but others soon followed as new areas were unlocked and gamers progressed through the various missions. This worked well for Disney Dreamlight Valley's format, where the once bustling valley had been invaded by Night Thorns and plagued by The Forgetting as one-by-one characters fled. While the first stages of the game might have seemed character-light, there was definitely the promise of a more filled-out cast to look forward to.

Slowly adding more faces back in works well for seasonal updates and regular post-launch content, and since Disney Dreamlight Valley burst on the scene, new characters have been making their way into the player's world. As it currently stands, Disney Dreamlight Valley has over twenty characters from a pleasing variety of properties that cover everything from older films like The Sword in the Stone and The Lion King to newer favorites like Moana and Ratatouille. While only a handful of characters make an appearance from each property, there's certainly room for more.

It seems like Disney Dreamlight Valley has an almost inexhaustible stable of characters to choose from across the Disney and Pixar spectrum, especially after Disney's acquisition of properties like Star Wars. More characters from films that are already featured would be welcome, like The Lion King's Timon and Pumbaa or Sebastian from The Little Mermaid, but other films have also been requested by many fans. The unique mix of characters in Disney Dreamlight Valley is one of its strengths, and it would be incredible to see Scrooge McDuck and Minnie Mouse sharing space with Darth Vader or Obi-Wan if Star Wars was later introduced, not to mention their accompanying space-themed Realm.

  • Cinderella (Cinderella)
  • Belle (Beauty and the Beast)
  • Representatives for Monsters Inc, The Incredibles, Hercules, Raya and the Last Dragon, Turning Red, and/or Big Hero Six

Gamers have plenty of requests when it comes to new additions, and many are hoping to see popular characters like Nemo, Aladdin, and Mulan make an appearance soon. Based on teased details or marketing materials, it seems that racer Vanellope von Schweetz might be around the corner, or that Cinderella and Belle are likely future additions, but alongside this list, some players would love to see non-Disney princess additions like characters from Monsters, Inc., The Incredibles, or Hercules. Continuing to push the boat out to other newer properties like Raya and the Last Dragon, Turning Red, or Big Hero Six would help to keep things fresh in Disney Dreamlight Valley as it continues to combine the classic and the current.
