"Friends Aren't Food" is a quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley that can be unlocked by building a Friendship with Scar, the famous Disney antagonist from The Lion King. There are two prerequisites to unlocking the quest: the player must have completed the story quest “Nature & Nurture,” and must also have progressed in Remy’s quests to have unlocked his restaurant.

Once these criteria are met, "Friends Aren't Food" becomes available as soon as the player reaches Friendship Level 2 with Scar. The required Friendship level can be quickly achieved simply by engaging in a conversation with Scar after unlocking him. Here's everything players need to know to complete the quest "Friends Aren't Food" in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

How To Complete The Quest "Friends Aren't Food"

In the quest "Friends Aren't Food," Scar appears restless while full of his usual sass. When the player inquires about his troubles, Scar declares that the player is unworthy to assist him due to their "shabby" attire. He demands that the player dress more appropriately for a leader.

Speak With Mother Gothel

To progress, the player should speak with Mother Gothel. Initially, Mother Gothel misunderstands the player's intentions, assuming they want to get rid of Scar. The player clarifies that they simply require her help in crafting a suitably regal outfit in order to get Scar to open up to them.

Gather Materials For A Coat

Mother Gothel agrees to help by crafting a quality coat, and asks the player to return with the following materials.

  • 10 Fiber - Crafted using 1 Seaweed per 5 pieces, which is caught by fishing in open water.
  • 4 Fabric - Crafted using 5 Cotton per piece, which is grown from seeds or purchased from by Goofy in Sunlit Plateau.
  • 2 Citrine - Obtained via Mining in Sunlit Plateau and Glade of Trust.
  • 1 Iron Ingot - Crafted using 5 Iron Ore and 1 Coal Ore.

Once the player gathers these materials, they should return to Mother Gothel. In exchange for these items, she will provide the player with the Brown Faux-Fur-Trimmed Jacket. The player should equip the jacket from the Wardrobe menu.

Equip the Coat and Return to Scar

With the Brown Faux-Fur-Trimmed Jacket equipped, the player should return to Scar once again and engage in conversation. Scar expresses that his frustration is due to hunger and contemplates eating some of the villagers. Recognizing this idea is more than a bit unsuitable, the player decides to seek Remy's assistance in cooking a meal fit for a (lion) king.

Craft Sushi Meals for Scar

The player should then head to Remy and explain the situation. Remy suggests that fresh sushi would be an excellent choice for Scar's meal and hands over recipe books for Tekka Maki and Sake Maki. The player needs to craft two servings of each dish. To prepare the required dishes, the player must gather these necessary ingredients:

Return To Scar With Remy

After the meals are prepared, the player should return to Remy and hand over the delicious dishes. Remy will then accompany the player in presenting the meals to Scar. Following a brief conversation between the two of them, in which Scar begrudgingly expresses his satisfaction with the dishes, the player should speak again with Scar to conclude the quest “Friends Aren’t Food.”
