The charming world of Disney Dreamlight Valley is inhabited by many colorful and charismatic characters from various Disney universes such as Toy Story, Frozen, Moana, and others. Many of these personalities can be welcomed to the Village after completing quests, with new characters becoming available in game updates.
Once a new character has moved in, the player has the opportunity to get to know them better and raise their Friendship with these newcomers by completing quests, giving gifts, and other activities. Completing these tasks earns the player Friendship points. These points function like experience points in RPGs, and help to raise the Friendship level between the character and the player. This guide will teach players the quickest methods of gaining Friendship with a resident in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
Benefits of Increasing Friendship With A Valley Resident
In Disney Dreamlight Valley, once a specific amount of Friendship has been earned, the player’s bond with a character will level up. This will unlock new features, quests, and rewards. At each new Friendship level with a character, the player will unlock either one of their exclusive items or a small amount of Star Coins.
Each character has its own special set of items, including clothing, accessories, motifs, and furniture. Additionally, new quests for that character will unlock at Level 2, Level 4, Level 7, and Level 10 Friendship.
How To Quickly Increase Friendship
There are numerous activities and tasks that players can complete to earn Friendship with a character. These tasks include gifting favorite items, completing quests, taking a character along as a companion, holding conversations, and serving meals at Remy's Restaurant.
For players who wish to raise Friendship as quickly as possible, there are a few methods players can use to earn significant unlimited Friendship with a character with minimal effort. These methods allow the player to reach Level 10 Friendship with a given villager in less than a day, and quickly unlock all their quests and rewards.
Give Villagers Their Daily Favorite Gifts
Characters in Disney Dreamlight Valley have an assortment of items that are considered their favorite gifts. Every day, players have the chance to offer a character's top three preferred gifts for that day, earning extra friendship points in the process. Gifts beyond the first three will still increase Friendship, but at the regular, lower rate for that type of item.
The player can discover a villager’s daily favorite gifts by speaking with them, or by mousing over that character’s portrait in the “Characters” category of the game menu’s Collections tab.
Once the player has given all three favorite gifts once, they can continue to give gifts to that character and receive Friendship, they just won’t get the significant 1,500 bonus Friendship awarded for each of the three favorite gifts.
Give Flowers To Villagers
Characters will continue to award Friendship upon receipt of any items gifted by the player, even beyond their three favorite gifts each day, with each gift offering a varying amount of Friendship. The player can choose from nearly any of the game’s items, as they are all valid gifts a character will accept.
However, the easiest gift the player can give to a villager to increase their Friendship is any type of Flower. Flowers award a whopping 400 Friendship when given to a character, and the player can continue gifting them to a character until they have maxed their Friendship with them.
There are other items which will award significant Friendship, including Minerals or enchanted items such as Dream Shards and Night Shards. However, those items are better saved for crafting and quests, as they are of a much higher value with more significant uses.
Flowers, however, are readily available to forage from each of the game’s biomes. Many players who regularly clear each biome of gatherable items will already have a stockpile in their chests. Additionally, players can obtain many flowers from the Beast’s Greenhouse each day, increasing its yield by spending Star Coins.
It can be a bit tedious, standing with a villager and constantly selecting the “I have something to give you!” dialogue option and selecting flowers. However, it will award the most significant amount of Friendship with the least actual effort beyond collecting the flowers.
Hang Out With A Companion
The other significant method of earning Friendship with one of Dreamlight Valley’s residents is to hang out with that character. Upon reaching Friendship Level 2 with any villager, the player can assign that character with a specific Companion Role. Each of these five roles is tied to one of Disney Dreamlight Valley’s everyday activities performed using the player’s Royal Tools.
Friendship is rewarded each time the player completes the task that matches the Companion Role they have assigned to their companion character. Mining and Fishing will provide the highest Friendship gains, followed by Foraging, which is the collection of wild-grown fruit and vegetables. The player can also gain Friendship by performing regular activities including watering crops, removing Night Thorns, and other day-to-day tasks.
To ensure maximum Friendship gains, be sure to check the character’s schedule before selecting to hang out with them. Each character in Disney Dreamlight Valley follows a fixed schedule which designates certain periods of time for sleeping, shopping in Scrooge’s Store, and, most importantly, dining in Chez Remy.
Most characters can be found seated at Chez Remy twice per day. The player can visit the restaurant at that time to prepare and serve each character’s requested meals. This is a regular source of Friendship and can offer increased rewards based on the quality of the meal which the character orders.
