In every biome in Disney Dreamlight Valley, there are many resources that players can gather. The rarity of each resource varies greatly, but none vary anywhere near as much as gems. Not only do they spawn inconsistently from rocks, but gems often share spawn points. So even if Disney Dreamlight Valley players get a gem to spawn when mining, there is no guarantee it will be the one they want.

As a result, it can be difficult to obtain certain gems. This guide will show players where to find Emeralds, and with a bit of luck, they will have no trouble getting some.

Where to Find Emeralds

Emeralds are not gems that are found early on in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Just like with Iron Ore, players won't be able to encounter them until they have unlocked a few other biomes in Dreamlight Valley. The two biomes that Emeralds can be found in are the Glade of Trust and the Forest of Valor. Of the two biomes, it is highly recommended that Disney Dreamlight Valley players unlock the Forest of Valor first.

Players should keep in mind that half of Glade of Trust is blocked off by large patches of mushrooms, and it will take a very long time before players are able to get rid of them. Forest of Valor also has some roadblocks, but it does not take anywhere near as much time to unlock the upgrade for the Royal Tools that allows Disney Dreamlight Valley players to remove them. When hunting for Emeralds, players should look for rocks along the walls that have gems sticking out of them like thorns. These rocks drop a guaranteed gem, and if they are green colored, then it is a guaranteed Emerald.

What Are Emeralds Used For?

At first glance, Disney Dreamlight Valley players may think to just sell the Emeralds they come across for easy Star Coins; it is a good way to get Star Coins to build homes for characters from other realms. That said, it might be a better idea for the player to store some in their house. The reason for this is that there are several quests that require players to turn in one or more Emeralds.

One important thing that players should know is that there are two types of Emeralds. The first is just a regular Emerald; the other is called a Shiny Emerald. Some quests will allow players to use either version, while some quests will strictly require Emeralds only.

Aside from quests and selling, Emeralds can also be used for crafting. So since there are a wide variety of uses for Emeralds (and gems in general), it is highly recommended that Disney Dreamlight Valley players have a chest set aside to store some gems in so that they have them ready for whenever something comes up that requires a gem. If players need more storage space and room for chests, they can always upgrade their house.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
