On paper, a Disney-themed life sim that heavily borrows from Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley sounds like an immediate success, and in reality, that's pretty much how it turned out. Released in September 2022, Disney Dreamlight Valley drops players into their very own magic kingdom, filled with some of the House of Mouse's most iconic characters. Though Disney Dreamlight Valley has plenty of content for fans to sink their teeth into, it is still technically in early access, and over the course of 2023, Gameloft plans on updating the game in some pretty major ways.
Just yesterday, the Disney Dreamlight Valley developer posted a 2023 roadmap to its socials. Nice and straightforward, this roadmap details Gameloft's upcoming plans for the game, covering a whole slew of big updates that are planned for release throughout the year, designed to be released in seasonal stages. From a multiplayer mode to brand-new characters and locales, Disney Dreamlight Valley has quite the 2023 ahead of itself.
Everything Coming to Disney Dreamlight Valley in 2023
The Disney Dreamlight Valley 2023 roadmap kicks things off right away with a few big updates coming in February. According to the roadmap, fans should expect to see Encanto's Mirabel in February, along with Frozen's Olaf. Players will presumably be able to find these characters, chat with them, and complete tasks for them just as they can the rest of Dreamlight Valley's iconic cast. Along with them, fans should be able to check out a brand new "Frosted Heights" biome, presumably inspired by Frozen. During the month of February, another Star Path is also set to take place, this time being themed around Disney's 100th anniversary. During the event, players should be able to complete unique quests to earn exclusive, time-limited in-game items.
Another major update for Disney Dreamlight Valley won't then appear until April, but this update is set to be even bigger than February's. The new character this time round is Lion King's Simba, who could possibly be getting his own entire realm during the same month. The roadmap also states that other new characters will be coming to the game during April, but it doesn't say who they'll be. The Star Path for this update will be centered around the Disney Parks themselves, so players should expect to see tons of Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and EPCOT-themed loot.
The Disney Dreamlight Valley 2023 roadmap then starts to get a little vaguer, claiming that the next big update will arrive in "Early Summer 2023." The description of this segment of the roadmap seems to tease a new story development in the game, stating that players will finally "Unveil the secret of The Forgetting," which has been the whole narrative crux of the game so far. The image above the caption shows the pumpkin house in the Forgotten Lands along with a mysterious purple character. This update will also apparently bring with it a new princess that "races" into the Valley, seemingly suggesting the addition of Wreck-It Ralph's Vanellope. A new Star Path will also be coming with this update, though no theme has been confirmed just yet.
The final section of Disney Dreamlight Valley's 2023 roadmap gives a broader overview of the rest of the year, listing a handful of additional modes and features that are set to come to the game at some point in the year. A multiplayer mode is listed here, along with even more new realms, characters, furniture, decorations, and clothing options. Beauty and the Beast's Belle is also teased here, showing her face in the background of the linked image.
