Disney Dreamlight Valley is a cozy life sim that allows players to live in a magical world with their favorite Disney characters. As players venture around the valley, they can interact with adorable characters, complete their friendship quests, and build and decorate their houses. Each quest in the game is meticulously designed and promises a perfect balance between thrill and entertainment.
Breaking the Ice is one of the friendship quests for Elsa in Disney Dreamlight Valley. In this quest, players need to help Elsa clear the ice blockage on the way to the Ice Cavern. Not only can this quest earn friendship points for players, but it will also add a permanent upgrade to their royal pickaxe. Here's how Dreamers can complete the Breaking the Ice quest without breaking a sweat in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
How to Complete Breaking the Ice in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Players can receive this quest as soon as Elsa moves to the village. Speak to the princess to start the quest.
Talk to Elsa and Visit the Ice Cavern
During the conversation, Elsa tells players that a strange sound has been coming from inside her intended house, Ice Cavern. She's intrigued by it but cannot go inside because the pathway is blocked by ice crystals. She has been trying her magic to get rid of the ice, but it was futile. Therefore, players will have to follow the princess to examine the ice chunks. Once there, they will use their magic pickaxe to break the ice, but it won't have any luck either.
To break the huge ice crystals, players will need a more powerful pickaxe. It turns out that the royal tool can be upgraded using the Warmth of Summer Potion. However, this potion is not available for purchase at Goofy's Stall for some star coins. Instead, it needs to be crafted at a crafting station using the following materials:
- 1 x Vial of Ocean Water
- 5 x Sunflowers
- 5 x Lemons
- 2 x Sugarcane
- 3 x Garlic.
Collect the Required Materials
Start gathering materials by collecting the Vial of Ocean Water from Dazzle Beach. It is a quest-specific item that has no such recurrence in the game besides this quest. It is recommended to search along the shallow water on the beach to find it easily. Finding the next material, sunflowers, is fairly straightforward as they are scattered all over Dazzle Beach. Thanks to their bright yellow color, players will be able to find them easily.
Now coming to lemons, they can be found growing on trees in the Forest of Valor and Glade of Trust. Pick five lemons from either of these locations and proceed to the next material. It is important to note that players will only receive three lemons with each harvest, so they may have to wait another 27 minutes for lemons to regrow before gathering more.
The next material, sugarcane, can be grown from sugarcane seeds, which are available for purchase at Goofy's Stall in the Dazzle Beach biome. These seeds cost five Star Coins each. After purchasing enough seeds, plant them anywhere in the valley using the shovel and water them with the watering can. Once they fully grow, collect two sugarcanes.
Garlic, the spice-type ingredient, can be foraged from the Forest of Valor, and players may occasionally find it in the Frozen Realm as well. To collect more garlic, players can bring along a character with the foraging role.
Make the Warmth of Summer Potion and Return to Elsa
After gathering all the required materials, head to a crafting station, look for the recipe of the potion in the Potion & Enchantment category and make the Warmth of Summer potion.
Once done, take the potion to Elsa, who will use it to upgrade their pickaxe. The potion will be automatically applied to the pickaxe during the conversation. Accompany Elsa to the Ice Cavern and use the newly upgraded pickaxe to break the ice chunks. Once the passage is clear, get inside the Ice Cavern and remove more of those ice blocks and Night Thorns. Next, speak to Elsa about the mysterious sound coming from deep inside the cave. To find the origin of the sound, she will suggest building a bridge over the gap.
Locate the Blue Crest
Players must keep clearing the blockage until they find a blue crest on the ground; that's what has been giving off the sound. Pick up the crest and hand it over to Elsa, who will then request players to place it on the Sculpted Wall. After doing so, they should return to Elsa and speak to her one last time. She will tell players that the loud sound is only a whisper now, and thank them for their assistance, concluding the quest.
It is pertinent to mention that the royal pickaxe will be permanently upgraded after this quest. Therefore, players will be able to use it to smash large rocks and unlock the biomes even after this quest.
