If nothing else, Oswald certainly adds some color to Disney Dreamlight Valley with his unique brand of shenanigans and comical chaos. After you've managed to deal with the alarm clock fiasco, you will be able to do Oswald's third friendship quest provided you have met the criteria to unlock it. Once you've reached level seven with Oswald, he will offer the quest "A Cockamamie Contest".
For this quest, you will have to complete various challenges as part of a competition with Oswald. While it isn't as long as "An Alarming Development", here is what you need to do to complete this quest.

Bring Oswald Some Spicy Food
After starting this quest, Oswald will give you the recipe for Tandoori Chicken. If you haven't discovered this recipe yet, use the book to learn how to make it. In order to make Tandoori Chicken, you will need one Chili Pepper, one Poultry, one Cumin, and one Paprika.
You will also need to obtain five Chili Peppers as well, which can be grown from seeds that are purchased at Goofy's Stall in the Sunlit Plateau or in the Plains. Once you've obtained both the Chili Peppers and the Tandoori Chicken, go to Oswald's house.
Put Out the Fires
After giving Oswald the food, several black and white fires will appear in his house. Before dealing with that, Oswald asks you to take a picture of him. Once that is done, use your watering can to get rid of the fire and talk to Oswald again. Now he wants to compete in some challenges against you and wants you to talk to Gaston, EVE, and Rapunzel. Each of these characters will offer a quest that you must complete.
Gaston's Challenge
Aside from the usual bragging about himself, Gaston will task you with destroying three Copper Rocks and three Glass Stalagmites. Copper Rocks can be found all over Eternity Isle and the Glass Stalagmites are located in the Glittering Dunes. In order to break these, you will need to have enhanced your royal tools at the Timebending Table. After completing this, go talk to Oswald.
Naturally, Oswald completed his task in a bizarre and comical manner. Just like in previous friendship quests, it is up to you to clean up his mess. Go to the Glittering Dunes and look for giant black holes on the ground. Interact with them to remove them and then check in with Gaston to complete his challenge.
EVE's Challenge
For EVE's challenge, you must find five Evergem, five Bumblestone, and five Spinel. Evergem can be found in rocks in the Ruins, Bumblestone can be found in the Borderlands, and Spinel can be found in the Grove and the Promenade. Keep in mind that the shiny versions of these gems do not count. If you don't have any of these gems, make sure to bring along a companion with the mining role to speed this part up.
Just like with the other challenges, you will have to talk to Oswald and see how he is doing. Oswald gives you Coal, which he is certain will be enough to win the challenge. Find EVE and talk to her to finish this challenge.
Rapunzel's Challenge
Rapunzel comes up with a colorful task for you and Oswald to compete in. You must make Pink Starfish BBQ, Blueberry Pie, and Ruby Masoor Dal. These recipes can be made with the following ingredients.
Pink Starfish BBQ
- One Pretty Pink Starfish
- One Paprika
Blueberry Pie
- One Blueberry
- One Wheat
- One Butter
Ruby Masoor Dal
- One Chili Pepper
- One Tomato
- One Ruby Lentil
After you make these meals, find Oswald and talk to him. After that, take his meal and yours to Rapunzel to complete this challenge.
Race Oswald
Once you've completed the three challenges, talk to Oswald. The three challenges didn't work out like he had hoped, and now he wants to challenge you to a race. Follow Oswald to reach a balloon archway where the race begins. Follow the instructions listed in the top left corner of the screen and go through the balloon archways. They are fairly easy to spot, and it won't take long to reach the Cave of Wonders. Go inside and head straight to find the final checkpoint where Oswald has somehow managed to get ahead. Talk to Oswald to complete this friendship quest.
