Anyone who is a fan of the those old Capcom and Disney collaborations back on the original NES are likely freaking out right now. Capcom has just announced The Disney Afternoon Collection via a very appropriately designed retro style trailer. Included are six classic games that have been enhanced with new features and a sharper look. This nostalgic overload will release this Spring on April 18, 2017.

The Disney Afternoon Collection comes with Darkwing Duck, DuckTales, DuckTales 2, TaleSpin, Chip 'n Dale, and Chip 'n Dale 2. There is an all new Boss Rush Mode, that appears to be the standard routine of fighting the game's bosses in sequential order, a Time Attack Mode, and a new Rewind feature that appears to allow players a do-over – sort of like the time control mechanics seen in Prince of Persia.

Additionally, there is a Museum Mode that will give players a behind the scenes look at the each game's development through early storyboards and concept art. Finally, all of the 8bit games in collection will be presented in full 1080p to match the current standard of high definition 8bit seen in games like Shovel Knight.

While the collection is set to release on most standard platforms, it will not be playable on Nintendo's recently released, well-reviewed console, the Switch. There is currently no word on whether Capcom intends to do so in the future.

Disney Afternoons was a block of original animated shows in the 90s that a generation of kids were lucky to have dominating their weekday afternoons. So, while this collection is clearly targeted at the old school folks out there, a working knowledge of the shows isn't required to enjoy the games they inspired.

Despite the reputation games based on television shows and movies might have, these are more than just fan service, they're great games as well. And, because they're Capcom games, many of them sport some excellent soundtracks. Those who haven't discovered the glory and wonder that is the DuckTales Moon Theme should prepare to fall in love with the jaunty tune – and be ready to have it stuck in their brains forever.

The Disney Afternoon Collection releases for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Steam on April 18, 2017.
