After adding a number of smaller updates and features to Dishonored 2, Bethesda and Arkane Studios are preparing to launch their biggest expansion pack yet for the stealthy series. The standalone expansion known as Dishonored: Death of the Outsider follows the exploits of former Whaler assassin Billie Lurk as she joins her former mentor Daud in his quest to kill the supernatural being only known as The Outsider. With the game launching tomorrow, a new launch trailer focuses provides additional story details to help get veteran and new players up to speed.

The story-heavy trailer opens with Billie revealing that she's been trying to find the Outsider for months, without much luck. With as much chaos and destruction as the god has left behind in his wake, Billie takes it upon herself to end the cycle by hunting him down and taking him out for good. Along the way through the Dishonored: Death of the Outsider campaign, she'll be facing off with some familiar foes like the Karnaca guards and Clockwork Soldiers, while also doing battle with completely new enemies such as creatures that appear made up entirely of the void.

Many of the new abilities and powers are also shown off in the trailer including the hook mine, which lets players create traps that, when triggered, violently pull the target towards the mine ending with either a non-lethal takedown or with enough force to rip a character in half. In addition to a new teleport ability called Displace, Billie can also use a move called Semblance that lets her Impersonate another human by stealing their face with the void.

Interestingly enough, Arkane has made a number of changes to the core formula with Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, which should change how players approach the game. Outside of the new abilities and powers that Billie brings to the table, players will no longer need to worry about finding elixirs as the energy meter now auto restores after a short cooldown period. Not only that, all of Billie's powers are unlocked right from the start, letting players develop a character that fits how they want to play. In one of the bigger changes, the chaos system that previously governed if players got a good or bad ending by how high the body count got, has been completely removed.

Dishonored 2‘s Death of the Outsider will launch on September 15, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
