A new trailer from NIS America reveals the western release window for Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless. The Disgaea series is one of Nippon Ichi's most popular gaming franchises, where it has resulted in multiple mainline games and spin-offs, with praise for its in-depth storytelling and strategy gameplay. The previous entry Disgaea 6, was released throughout 2021 and 2023, with the seventh entry being released near the end of January in Japan earlier this year. Fans now have an anticipated window for Disgaea 7's release in the west.The Disgaea games are set in an over-the-top anime-esque version of the Netherworld, with Disgaea 7 following the same route. Unlike previous entries, which were focused on European settings, this game sees its Netherworld inspired by Japanese culture. This is known as the Netherworld of Hinomoto, with this first trailer briefly touching upon Disgaea 7's characters and gameplay mechanics fans can find.The trailer introduces Disgaea 7's protagonist Fuji, a wandering samurai with a code of honor. In contrast, he is accompanied by an otaku gyaru fox girl named Pirilika, which blends traditional and modern Japanese culture together for intentional anachronistic dissonance. Other characters are shown off in the trailer, such as a witch that specializes in fisticuffs, along with a samurai who forgoes his sword and uses a gun instead. The release window was also revealed in this trailer, with NIS America and Nippon Ichi Software aiming for a Fall 2023 release date.
Other details about Disgaea 7 were briefly touched upon as well, such as the giant characters, reincarnating weapons, along with other mechanics that allow for a great deal of strategizing and freedom. Alongside the Switch and PlayStation versions of Disgaea 7, a PC version will also be released in the West.
NIS America's website shows off pre-order bonuses for Disgaea 7 that are available for fans, which come in two versions. There is the Deluxe Edition, which will likely be available at retailers like GameStop or Best Buy. This version will contain a digital soundtrack, along with a mini art book and boxed game. The Limited Edition of Disgaea 7 features a lot more items, including a 2-disc original soundtrack, a hardcover art book, a steelbook case, a mini art display of the main characters, and even a special tea cup. These all come in a special collector's box that will hold them together. Currently, the only way to get this Limited Edition seems to be through the official NIS Online Store, though that could change in the future.
