Nippon Ichi Software has released a new trailer for Disgaea 7, showcasing the game's demon protagonist, Fuji. For those who don't know, the Disgaea game franchise is a series of tactical role-playing video games created and developed by Nippon Ichi Software. The series debuted in Japan with Disgaea: Hour of Darkness in 2003, and the most recent entry is Disgaea 6. The plot of the Disgaea games typically revolves around the characters' efforts to overthrow a corrupt or evil ruler or to save their home from destruction. The games are known for their complex gameplay, high degree of customization, and over-the-top cartoonish graphics.

The Disgaea games always take place in a series of alternate universes known as Netherworld, with each game focusing on a different one. The first trailer for the upcoming installment Disgaea 7 was first revealed in August 2022 and based on the trailer, it looks like the Netherworld of Disgaea 7 is inspired by Japanese culture. The trailer also introduced the two main characters of the game, a wandering samurai named Fuji and an otaku girl known as Piririka.

As the game's release date approaches nearer, Nippon Ichi Software has started releasing trailers dedicated to Disgaea 7 characters. The first trailer is focused on demon protagonist Fuji who honed his battle skills at a young age and firmly believes that the winner is a hero while the loser is a minion. This mantra drove him to become one of the most formidable characters, ready to go to any extent to defeat his enemy. His primary weapon is a sword named Kanzan Musashi, which has the ability to slash through anything it comes into contact with.

Fuji's only apparent weakness is his bottled-up emotions, which can manifest as coughing up blood when he feels things like love, sympathy, or friendship. It has also been revealed that in Disgaea 7, Fuji will be voiced by the popular voice actor Kaiso Ishikawa, who is best known for his work in the Japanese version of the Devil May Cry series. Nippon Ichi has also announced the release date for the next set of character trailers. According to the schedule, Piririka's trailer will be released on January 11, followed by Wey-yasu on January 13, Seefour on January 16, Suisen on January 18, Ao on January 20, and finally Higan Zesshousai on January 23.

The Disgaea franchise has been very successful, with the games selling over 5 million copies worldwide. The series has also been praised by critics, with the first game in the franchise, Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, being named one of the best tactical RPGs of all time. With so much to look forward to, it is safe to say that Disgaea 7 has the potential to bring even more success to the franchise with its many promising features.

Disgaea 7 is scheduled to release on January 26th in Japan for PS4, PS5, and Switch with no western release date announced at the time of this writing.
