A new batch of updates from Nippon Ichi Software has given players a wealth of information about the upcoming Disgaea 7 revealed earlier this year. Nippon Ichi officially revealed the newest entry in the long-running TRPG franchise in August following Disgaea 6's 2021 launch on Switch with other platforms arriving in 2022. Nippon Ichi's flagship franchise has consistently pushed out new games between major titles, spinoffs, and re-releases since the debut of the first Disgaea in 2003. Now, NIS is getting players ready for the seventh main-series entry of the iconic RPG series.

The newest details about Disgaea 7 introduce players to one of the major plot points of Disgaea 7. The update reveals the "Seven Weapons of Origin," seven legendary weapons powerful enough to "destroy gods" that can only resonate with certain individuals. The weapons will likely be shared by each member of the game's main cast who have already been introduced. The Seven Weapons of Origin also activate the game's new "Shinuchi Mode," with characters wielding the weapons gaining powerful new abilities and stat boosts.

Alongside the Seven Weapons of Origin, Nippon Ichi also gave more information about the main cast set to star in Disgaea 7. NIS had previously revealed two of the new Disgaea's main characters in Fuji and Piririka with five new members of the cast being revealed. The update introduces several new characters like the Oedo Shogun Wey-yasu who wields the "Divine Staff: Tokugawa Tenge" and the phantom thief Seefour. The reveal also showed two of the Seven Weapons of Origin with main character Fuji's and the previously mentioned Wey-yasu's weapons introduced.

Disgaea 7 will also feature two new classes joining the series for the first time alongside its new characters. The female "Maiko" class focuses on using dance moves to "dazzle her opponents" with the class featuring buffs like increased damage against male enemies, while the male Thief class specializing in "finding good treasures." The Thief class's blurb suggests using the class may give more rewards from the game's treasure chests. The update also shared details on new locations, new monsters, and plenty more.

With Disgaea 7 set to launch early next year, Nippon Ichi Software has been giving fans plenty of reasons to be excited about the seventh entry in the series. The game is set to introduce several new mechanics including the "Dodeka MAX" system with giant characters and new mechanics for weapons. Leaks from earlier this year have also suggested that the first Disgaea game may come to PS Plus Premium in the near future as well. Disgaea 7 is set to bring plenty of new twists to the classic TRPG franchise when it releases early next year.

Disgaea 7 is scheduled to release on January 26th in Japan for PS4, PS5, and Switch.
