Codemasters has announced a short delay for Dirt 5, moving the launch date for the game forward for about a week. Originally set to release on October 9th, it will now be available to players on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on October 16th instead. It's not clear exactly why this small delay was made, but Codemasters made sure to share other exciting news to make up for it including early access and free Dirt 5 upgrades.

Players that have pre-ordered the Amplified Edition of Dirt 5 will get early access to the game, as it will be available for them on October 13th. This three day early access should let players get a handle on the game and its features earlier than those that purchased the standard edition, and fans seem excited about it.

That said, it could be said that the early access is still four days after the game was initially planned to release, but there isn't much that can be done about that. In other news, Codemasters did reconfirm that Dirt 5 is getting a PS5 and Xbox One port later this year, and even going so far as to provide players that already purchased the game on current gen consoles with a free upgrade.

Though most can agree that a one week delay isn't a big deal, especially in the face of indefinite delays of PlayStation games that have been happening lately, people are confused about what the point of delaying the game by a week is and are curious as to whether or not it will help with development at all. Either way, players can expect access to Dirt 5 on October 16th, or October 13th for Amplified Edition owners.

Dirt 5 releases on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on October 16th, and later this year for PS5 and Xbox Series X.
