Having a couple of friends in the fight can help out in many situations in Diablo Immortal. But being in a group is never guaranteed. Everybody needs to play solo at some point. So how does a Monk get some help when they're all alone? A few Mystic Allies can do the trick.
The damage output with Mystic Allies can be among the best in Diablo Immortal. However, is it wise to base an entire build around a temporary skill? With the right build around it, Mystic Allies hit even harder. And the move, itself, is hardly temporary.
Due to several factors, like gear, skills, reforging, and upgrades, it is impossible to list the exact quantities for many of the numbers detailed here. Any variable number has been replaced with an 'X' to signify its potential to change.
Skill Selection
Slot | Skill | Description |
Primary Skill | Fists of Thunder | Teleport to a nearby enemy and unleash a rapid succession of punches that each deal X to X damage. You can teleport again after every third hit. Each enemy player can be a teleport target only once every X seconds. |
Skill | Mystic Strike | Dash forward X yards and leave a spirit behind that will return, pulling all enemies in its path to you and dealing X damage. Maximum X charges. |
Skill | Seven-Sided Strike | Dash rapidly between nearby enemies, striking X times for X damage per hit. Additional hits on the same target deal X% as much damage. |
Skill | Mystic Allies | Summon X spirit allies to fight by your side for X seconds. They deal X damage with each attack and have Life equal to yours. |
Skill | Exploding Palm | Attack enemies in a direction for X damage and inflict Bleeding on them for X seconds. Enemies that die while Bleeding will explode for X damage to all nearby enemies. Maximum X charges. Enemies can only be hit X times within X seconds by these explosions, and starting with explosion X and beyond, take only X% of normal damage. |
These skills balance out single and mob damage. Clusters of demons are prone to exploding in chains while a single target will be taking every hit from both the Monk and its Mystic Allies. Mystic Strike does triple work as a mobility skill, enemy push/pull, and damage source.
Gear
The bulk of gamers will be hunting down their ideal pieces of legendary gear after taking the time to beat the game. But don't forget to track down the set bonus pieces after choosing them from the list. A complete set gives three additional effects, on par with the legendary bonuses from the regular gear.
Primary Gear
Slot | Piece | Legendary Effect |
Head | The Open Mind | Mystic Allies damage increased by X%. |
Chest | Breath of Incense | Seven-Sided Strike can now trigger the Exploding Palm explosion when it kills Bleeding enemies. |
Shoulders | The First Wind | Each hit of Seven-Sided Strike also temporarily decreases all damage you take by X%, stacking up to X times. |
Legs | Companion's Melody | Mystic Allies duration increased by X%. |
Main Hand | Rod of Echoes | Mystic Allies cooldown decreased by X%. |
Off Hand | Scolding Storm | Exploding Palm is now icy and inflicts Chill. |
Increasing the damage, cooldown, and duration of Mystic Allies is only the start. The Monk also gets a heavy dose of tankiness and a guaranteed way to inflict severe chills and explosions on entire groups of opponents.
Set Items
Set Bonus | 2/6 Effect | 4/6 Effect | 6/6 Effect |
Shepherd's Call to Wolves | Your summons deal X% more damage. | Critical Hit Chance increased by X% for each of your summons, up to a maximum of X%. | Your summons enter a frenzied state for X seconds each time one of them critically hits. The frenzied state increases their damage and Attack Speed by X%. Cannot occur more often than once every X seconds. |
Necromancers aren't the only ones that can make effective use of Shepherd's Call to Wolves. Mystic Allies are colossal damage boosts ready. With this set, the easiest part of the Challenge Rift will be the final boss. Cast Mystic Allies once and attack; the last opponent won't survive to see the next cast.
Reforge Bonuses
Even for paid players, reforge attribute bonuses can be guided, but are not guaranteed completely. With enough rerolls, any player can eventually get the exact attribute they want, but this will take time and luck, even for those who have the money. Therefore, several different attributes have been listed within the same family, in order of preference.
Family Bonus
Family | Family Attribute |
Vengeance | Your primary attacks have a X% chance to increase all damage you deal by X% for one second. |
The Vengeance family is often considered as having the best family attribute. The Mystic Allies Monk uses primary attacks more than most others, so few other builds or classes can leverage this benefit like the Mystic Allies Monk can.
Attributes
Preference | Attribute |
First | Attack speed increased by X%. |
Second | Damage to demons increased by X%. |
Third | Damage to enemies suffering loss of control increased by X%. |
The Ravager tree offers a bonus to damage from summoned units, so why use Vengeance skills? Attack speed benefits the Monk and the summons alike. Plus, there are multiple effects that have a chance to occur with each primary attack when using this build. Stacking attack speed is just as good or better at boosting this kind of Monk's damage.
Gems
There are two kinds of gems to consider for this build: the legendary gems and the regular gems. Players of all income levels will be using this guide, so there are three charts for legendary gems to choose from. Probability demands that even paying for an advantage will still make it tough to get the right gems, so feel free to mix and match from the charts based on the character's most valuable stats.
Legendary Gems
5-Star Gem | Effect |
Phoenix Ashes | Prevents fatal damage, and then grants a shield for X seconds that absorbs damage equal to X% of your base damage. Cannot occur more often than once every X seconds. |
Howler's Call | Your Primary Attack has a X% chance to summon a charging spirit wolf that inflicts X% base damage +X to all enemies in its path. Cannot occur more often than once every X seconds. |
Chip of Stoned Flesh | Each time you cause an enemy total loss of control, you will also apply an explosive curse. When the curse expires, the enemy will explode for damage equal to X% of all damage taken during its duration, up to a maximum of X% base damage. Cannot occur more often than once every X seconds per target. |
Seeping Bile | Your attacks have a X% chance to poison enemies, inflicting X% base damage +X every second for X seconds. This poison spreads to nearby enemies if the victim dies. Cannot affect the same target more often than once every X seconds. |
Blessing of the Worthy | When you take damage, you have X% chance to unleash retribution on all nearby enemies, dealing damage equal to X% of your maximum Life. Cannot occur more often than once every X seconds. |
Blood-Soaked Jade | Increases all damage you deal by up to X% and your Movement Speed by X%, with less damage bonus the lower your Life, to a minimum of X%. |
There are a few gems usually reserved for tanking classes used for the Mystic Allies Monk. Because the class deals damage up close, there needs to be some elements of protection. Since the skills are all offensive in nature, it falls to the gems to do the defensive work.
2-Star Gem | Effect |
Battleguard | Decreases all melee damage you take by X% from enemies within X yards. |
The Hunger | Heal X% base damage +X Life each time you defeat an enemy. Cannot occur more often than once every X seconds. |
Fervent Fang | Each time you deal damage to an enemy, that enemy now takes X% increased from your attacks, up to a maximum increase of X% at X stacks. |
Follower's Burden | Increases all damage you deal by X% for each summon you control, up to a maximum increase of X%. |
Lightning Core | Your Primary Attacks and movement slowly charge you up with electricity. When fully charged, your next Primary Attack will release chain lightning, dealing X% base damage +X to nearby enemies. Cannot occur more often than once every X seconds. |
Power and Command | Power and Command alternate states every X seconds. Power increases your Primary Attack damage by X%. Command increases all other skill damage by X%. |
The 2-Star gem effects are every bit as good as the 5-Star gem effects, some are even better. Although 5-Star gems will always be better due to the Resonance bonus, gems like Follower's Burden and Lightning Core should not be replaced until every other slot can be filled with a 5-Star gem.
1-Star Gem | Effect |
Ca'arsen's Invigoration | Increases the speed of your Primary Attack by X%. |
Chained Death | Increases damage done by your attacks by X% per target hit, up to a maximum of X% with X targets. |
Freedom and Devotion | Increases the duration of your summons by X%. |
Pain of Subjugation | You deal X% increased damage to enemies suffering loss of control. |
Respite Stone | Decreases all damage you take by X% for every X% your Life is below maximum, up to maximum damage decrease of X%. |
Zod Stone | Increases the duration of your Ultimate Skills by X%. |
Between Ca'arsen's Invigoration and Freedom and Devotion, it's hard to say that 1-Star gems aren't competitive. The Mystic Allies Monk has a great balance between primary and skill attacks, so even a player with bad luck will find that most gems are relevant at any rarity.
Regular Gem Preference
Color | Gem | Effect |
Red | Tourmaline | +Damage |
Yellow | Citrine | +Potency |
Blue | Sapphire | +Armor Penetration |
Given the choice between tanking and damage, elect for extra damage every time, allowing the best defense to be a good offense. The Mystic Allies Monk bases its survival on every kind of output.
