Gearing up a Necromancer in Diablo Immortal is a delicate process. Players have a variety of builds, all of which are legitimate, but simply equipping the highest-rated weaponry is not the most intelligent decision. Each build requires a plan and that plan requires specific weapons and off-hand gear.

As a result, it may be considered more difficult to have a precise Necromancer build. On the other hand, thinking optimistically, players can just use the best gear they find in Diablo Immortal and change their build accordingly. It's a personal choice, one that Necromancers are both blessed and cursed to have.

8 Life In The Balance - PvP - Off-Hand

  • 10% of all damage you take is taken by your skeletal champions instead.

There are many folks cheating in PvP right now, and it's rather easy to get lumped in with them when the amount of damage taken seems to get reduced in any way. In reality, that's just what Life in the Balance does, transferring some of the damage taken to the summoned units instead.

These units are quite tough) and can be made tougher with other pieces) so opponents tend to ignore them and try to get the Necromancer. This strategy falls apart with this particular item.

7 Welcome End - PvE - Off-Hand

  • Skeletal Mage now summons a powerful grim reaper, but has a longer cooldown.

The Skeletal Mage can dish out quite a bit of damage, but it can't handle much backlash. In a way, that makes it redundant to the Necromancer itself, dealing damage from afar while other units take the front lines. The Welcome end is a very "welcome" way around this.

By converting the unit into something that does better damage at melee range with more health, this makes it all the more valuable to a Necromancer trying to stay away from the action. This reaper unit can polish off units quickly and allow the gamer to keep auto-navigating without interruption.

6 Pyre's Allure - PvP - Off-Hand

  • Bone Wall can now be ignited with soulfire, dealing X damage over 8 seconds to nearby enemies.

For those new to the battleground experience, a common tactic is to get some gear that traps a player inside of a Bone Wall. Some have called for this overpowered skill to be addressed and it may be on Activision-Blizzard's fix list for the game, but so far, it remains absurdly strong.

So why not make an overpowered skill even more powerful? Trap a poor player inside, then force them to take damage over time with a simple auto-attack. They were already in trouble when they got caught, now the opponent is just doomed.

5 Dominance From Dust - PvE - Off-Hand

  • Your bone golem will split into two smaller bone golems when it dies.

If there is any weakness in the Golem, it's that there is a long cooldown time after it expires. It's just for a few seconds, but those are seconds of having a wasted skill on the bar, not contributing to anything. It's not good for the late game and not helpful when trying to level up quickly.

4 Priest's Grubknife - PvP - Main Hand

  • Command Golem now summons a stone golem that throws boulders at enemies and rolls through enemies instead of leaping.

Pro PvP players, as soon as they see a golem on the battlefield, know to remain light on their toes to avoid the stun. Some players might mistakenly remove this attack from the selection screen, but that's a mistake. The Priest's Grubknife will have the Necromancer moving up the class tier list in no time.

It's much tougher to dodge boulders and tougher still to avoid the Command Golem as it rolls through areas instead of gracefully leaping. The decrease in safe territory will be profoundly felt by the enemy team.

3 Desolatoria - PvE - Main Hand

  • Command Golem now summons a molten golem that continually Burns all nearby enemies instead of forcing them to attack it or Stunning them.

The loss of the stun from the golem with Desolatoria would be a huge loss in PvP, but it's not so bad in PvE, especially at the maximum level. Generally speaking, summoned units will be handling the brunt of the damage upfront and their health pools aren't going to greatly benefit from a short stun.

Bosses can't be stunned at all, so it's of no use to them. What will make a difference is the inferno of extra damage from the molten golem. It's a trade that hardcore rift vets are all too happy to make.

2 Piercehammer - PvP - Main Hand

  • Command Skeletons damage increased by 10%.

PvP players that want to ignore summoning entirely will have a tough time finding a loadout that makes sense. The weapon either benefit summoned units or skills to complete Elder Rifts while PvP options have been notably left out. Adding 10% damage to Command Skeletons might not feel like an incredible boost, but it is notable.

Keep in mind that this 10% damage is when using the active portion of the skeletons, which is the most important part of PvP. Opponents can dodge the skeletons passively, but when they rush to a location, they're bound to get a few solid hits off.

1 Blight Maw - PvE - Main Hand

  • Bone Spear also poisons enemies hit for damage over 3 seconds.

Soulfire may be the preferred option over Bone Spear when it comes to primary attacks, but Blight Maw would like to change some minds. Adding poison damage to these piercing attacks is highly effective against bosses and minions.

When rifting, this is good for more than just clearing out the cobwebs. There is already a good amount of damage coming out from multiple courses, tacking on some damage over time is the much-needed icing on a double-digit challenge rift cake.

Diablo Immortal is available now for mobile and PC.
