The Barbarian is a force of nature in Diablo Immortal, a huge leap (pardon the pun) away from its role as a pure support hero in other Diablo installments. Capable of buffing and healing itself, it's a dependable DPS on the battlefield that requires no hand-holding.

To maximize its strengths, there will be some notable PvP and PvE differences in both item and skill selection. As far as skills go, the community has coalesced around a core bunch of abilities, but altering them with gear has proved to be one of Diablo Immortal's hotter debates.

8 Berserker's Sanity - PvP - HeadDiablo Immortal Using Cleave On Zombies

  • Wrath of the Berserker now also dispels effects which cause loss of control of your character.

Most classes likely see auto-attacks as a waste of time, meant for clearing out cobwebs and not much more. The Barbarian heals by attacking, so Wrath of the Berserker automatically becomes one of the best skills thanks to its doubling of attack speed and, thusly, healing ability.

In PvP, when players will try to disable the Barbarian, the Berserker's Sanity will remove these debuffs during Wrath of the Berserker, allowing the character to heal and deal damage without inhibition.

7 Lasting Hate - PvE - Head

  • Wrath of the Berserker duration increased by 30%.

Wrath of the Berserker is not just loved by PvP enthusiasts, of course. When going blow-for-blow in a boss fight, the Barbarian's health pool is going to be challenged frequently. Surviving such encounters will require faster attacks and more healing.

An extra 30% in the duration is more than enough time to turn a deadly boss fight into a triviality. Auto-navigate to the nearest raid boss, slap on the Lasting Hate, and go to town.

6 Shocking Chaos - PvP - Shoulders

  • Leap is now electrified, Stunning all nearby enemies where you land.

Unless the cheaters are still infesting the PvP battlegrounds, the Barbarian can deal with these opponents if they build just right. Nobody will doubt the Barbarian's mobility, speed, and attack speed, but what about their disables? It's not exactly a casting class.

A stun does more for a Barbarian than other classes, allowing unfettered auto-attacks for a while. Barbarians lose if they have to play catch-up constantly, the Shocking Chaos relieves the class of this issue.

5 The Coming Storm - PvE - Shoulders

Diablo Immortal Unleashing The Barbarian's Ultimate
  • Wrath of the Berserker cooldown decreased by 15%.

Much like the explanation for the head slot item, Wrath of the Berserker is a valuable PvE skill for any player needing to survive a dungeon; it's almost impossible without it. But for long rifts and dungeons, the healing, by the end, is still going to be a close call.

Unleash Wrath of the Berserker more often with The Coming Storm. This skill is nearly overpowered right now and Barbarian mains are praying that while the dev team fixes up the needed areas in the game, they don't nerf this skill.

4 The Gathering - PvP - Chest

Diablo Immortal Taking A Portal With The Barbarian
  • Whirlwind pulls in all enemies it damages.

The barbarian is not the easiest class for beginners. It's very talent-based, especially in PvP, requiring a focus on the health bar, the enemy's health bar, and precise positioning. If human opponents are constantly running away from the Barbarian, the character will die in short order.

Pulling enemies toward the center and sporadically casting Whirlwind won't allow them to escape the clutches of a Barbarian. The Gathering makes this hunting process a piece of cake.

3 Ferocious Gale - PvE - Chest

Diablo Immortal Shocking Enemies With A Conduit Buff
  • Whirlwind occasionally throws out tornadoes that deal damage to any enemies they strike.

The Barbarian has a few skills that excel at taking out groups of enemies in PvE. That's fantastic because nothing will kill a Barbarian faster than a wave of opponents. Single combat is much more the Barbarian's speed.

Wiping out these extra enemies with the boost to Whirlwind from Ferocious Gale is more than just a way to level up quickly, it's imperative to get rid of groups and focus on the biggest and baddest; the Barbarian can't survive when outnumbered for long.

2 Kar's Defiance - PvP - Legs

Diablo Immortal Using Whirlwind On A Cluster Of Enemies
  • Leap also grants you a shield that absorbs damage.

Some might find that a well-equipped Barbarian on the battlefield will skyrocket up the class tier list. And those observations aren't wrong. The trouble is, with the Barbarian's excessive mobility and tracking, it will constantly be drawn away from friendly teammates to try and score a kill.

Toss on the Kar's Defiance for a shield that comes with every Leap. It's the perfect combo, protecting the Barbarian every time it needs to leap away and live or jump into a precarious spot.

1 Howler's Lift - PvE - Legs

Diablo Immortal Using The Lacerate Ultimate Against A Boss
  • Leap damage increased by 10%.

Leap needs to be a regular method of dealing with minions in PvE instances. Whirlwind is great, but it takes time to whittle down these enemies; time that the enemies will be attacking the character. Even a max-level Barbarian won't survive for long getting beat up this consistently.

A 10% boost to Leap damage from Howler's Lift might not seem like much on paper, but it takes a larger chunk away from enemies at the start of an encounter. This keeps the health bar closer to the top than the bottom.
