It takes 487 million XP for Diablo 4 players to hit the max level of 100 in the game, meaning that level 85 is really the halfway point for players. Diablo 4 is built to be a hugely replayable game, and anyone looking to reach max level with all the different classes available at launch is going to be in for a serious grind.

At launch, Diablo 4 has five playable classes to choose from: Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer, Rogue, and Sorcerer. Each Diablo 4 class has their own pros and cons, but regardless of which class players pick, they need to plan on making a serious commitment if they hope to level their character all the way to 100. Hitting level 100 in Diablo 4 takes an incredible amount of time, and while those hitting level 85 may feel like they're nearing the finish line, in reality, they're only halfway to 100.

Diablo 4 player and Reddit user Aganod44 recently pointed out this humbling fact on the game's subreddit. According to their numbers, players need 243.5 million XP to reach level 85 in Diablo 4, with 487 million total XP required to hit level 100. This puts into perspective just how serious the Diablo 4 grind can be, and just how much time the people who have already hit level 100 have invested in the game.

It also makes it even more glaringly obvious how painful it must be for players who have lost their Diablo 4 Hardcore characters. Diablo 4's Hardcore mode adds permadeath to the mix, meaning if a character dies, they're gone forever. Considering the time investment that's required to hit max level in Diablo 4, this can be an absolutely tragic moment for anyone who unlucky enough to lose their character.

Some unfortunate Diablo 4 players have lost their high level Hardcore characters for reasons outside their control. Diablo 4 Hardcore characters have died in loading screens and from disconnects, which makes the situation that much more devastating.

Eventually, it's likely that Diablo 4 players will have even more classes to level up and try to hit level 100 with. There are rumors that Diablo 4 will be adding new classes with its DLC expansions, but that remains to be seen. For now, Diablo 4 players can focus on hitting max level with the five classes that are currently available in the massive action-RPG from Blizzard.

Diablo 4 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
