Diablo 4 players will be receiving a long-awaited buff when it comes to killing Treasure Goblins, making it more worth it to chase them down. This buff was confirmed at the most recent Diablo 4 Campfire Chat and will be implemented in the next patch of the game.

For many fans of Diablo 4, there are aspects of the game that are fun and aspects that feel underwhelming. One of those underwhelming aspects is the drop rates for killing Treasure Goblins. Treasure Goblins are creepy little creatures that can be hard to kill but carry a sack of loot that’s sometimes worth grabbing. In Diablo 3, these creatures were always worth hunting down, as they would drop excellent weapons and cosmetics. It’s a different story when it comes to Treasure Goblins in Diablo 4, as some fans are disappointed at how small the legendary drop rates are after killing one of these servants of greed. Thankfully, the disappointing drop rates are about to change.

In the most recent Campfire Chat for Diablo 4, associate game director Joe Piepiora announced that once players reach level 15, killing a Treasure Goblin will drop a legendary item 100% of the time. This change will go into effect after Patch 1.1.1 is released, which is expected to be August 8th. Fans who would like to hear the news from the director himself can go to 1:09:40 in the official Campfire Chat video.

In the video, Piepiora explained that he made a Twitter poll asking fans what they thought the chances of getting a legendary item were after killing a Treasure Goblin in Diablo 4. The options in the poll were 10%, 25%, 40%, and 50%. Most people who took the poll answered 10%, but the actual answer is 50%, which basically comes down to a coin toss. Piepiora explained that because Treasure Goblins are rare to find, people were just having bad luck when they encountered one, essentially flipping “tails” over and over again. This also means that even after the new patch is released, players that have not reached level 15 will still only have a 50/50 chance of receiving a legendary item after killing a Treasure Goblin.

For players who desperately need legendary items to build out their characters, the next patch of the game may help them out significantly. Especially fans who are lucky enough to find a cellar full of Treasure Goblins in Diablo 4 like one lucky player did.

Diablo 4 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
