Diablo 4 Game Manager Rod Fergusson confirms that Season 5 will not follow the same 12-week cadence as previous seasons, making it shorter, so Season 6 can launch with the Vessel of Hatred expansion. After what many felt was a disappointing previous season, Diablo 4 has seemingly reignited the fanbase thanks to another big Vessel of Hatred cinematic reveal at the Xbox Games Showcase, as well as the well received fourth season of content.

Season 4, also known as Loot Reborn, has provided a much-needed spark to Diablo 4 through some very positive changes and quality of life updates, like Masterworking, revamping Helltides, new endgame content called the Pit of Artificers, and much more. Season 4 has gone over so well with players that Diablo 4 hit a new player milestone on Steam, which is impressive due to the fact that Blizzard's own Battle.net service is typically the place for players to go on PC. Blizzard teases that Season 4 is just the start of these improvements, which has fans curious what else the studio has up its sleeves.

Diablo 4's New Pet Feature Is Breaking Builds

Diablo 4 finally has pets, but the addition of the anticipated feature is breaking players' builds and generating a negative experience for some.

During a recent interview with Windows Central, game manager Rod Fergusson discussed the upcoming future of Diablo 4 with the Vessel of Hatred expansion only a few months away and how the studio planned to keep the positive momentum going. When discussing the Diablo 4 roadmap, Fergusson admitted to being excited about what's to come in season 5, and continuing into season 6, which "is at the same time as the expansion."

Diablo 4 Season 5 Is Likely Going to Be Shorter Than Normal

While Fergusson didn't outright confirm a shorter Season 5 by revealing actual dates, if what he said is true, Blizzard appears to be aligning the launch of Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred with Season 6. Looking at the current timeline, Loot Reborn comes to an end on August 6 and Vessel of Hatred arrives on October 8, in which Fergusson indicated will also launch with Season 6. So, taking all of that into consideration, Season 5 appears to run for a maximum of 9 weeks, 3 shorter than a typical Diablo 4 season, which means players will have a shorter amount of time to play through the story, new content, and work through the season pass.

There is even more good news for those who want to get a jumpstart on the upcoming season. Blizzard announced that Diablo 4 is getting a Public Test Realm server for Season 5, while also confirming a midseason update coming next week. Alongside a July event which aims to reveal even more details for the Vessel of Hatred expansion and the new Spiritborn class, there appears to be a lot to look forward to on the horizon for Diablo 4 players.
