Blizzard Entertainment President Mike Ybarra confirms that an upcoming Diablo 4 fix will address a major season journey progression blocker. Following the positive reception that Diablo 4 received upon release, things were a bit more rocky with the launch of Season 1 in July. Controversy kicked off when Blizzard first revealed how much progression would be lost when players created their seasonal character. Thankfully, Blizzard made tweaks and adjustments, no longer resetting things like Lilith statues or map fog.

Outside of the massively controversial Season 1 update for Diablo 4, which Blizzard has been largely undoing, players have been running into a number of technical issues with the game including performance issues, bugs, and even an exploit that allowed players to transfer their Eternal characters into the Seasonal Realm. Thankfully, Blizzard appears to be aware of many of them, including one nasty progression blocked for those attempting to get through Season 1's journey.

Blizzard's President, Mike Ybarra, took to social media to reveal that he has completed Season 1 in Diablo 4. Some took the opportunity to ask questions or bring up concerns like GianniPlay, who appears to be stuck in the middle of their Season 1 journey. Specifically, one of the challenges called A Boon in the Tide is to open a Helltide Chest, which seems simple enough on paper, though the task isn't marked as complete, even after opening multiple types during a session. Many players have reported that they are also stuck on this step, even after attempting to play solo, in a group online, or opening different types of chests.

As frustrating as this can be for players, Blizzard is aware of the problem. Ybarra followed up by saying that a fix is not only on the way, but it is nearly ready for release. While things can certainly change during development, Blizzard is currently targeting a fix for this progression issue on August 15, which likely implies that it will be included as part of a larger Diablo 4 update.

In the meantime, players are getting Update 1.1.1 this week, which promises to bring about a number of major fixes and updates. To prepare players, Blizzard released the Diablo 4 Update 1.1.1. patch notes almost a week early, confirming that it'll address the VRAM management issues impacting game performance as well as more class balancing, with a number of recent nerfs being undone for Barbarian and Sorcerer players.

Diablo 4 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
