Highlights

  • Diablo 4's Season of Blood has received praise from players for its new content, including mounts, gems, bosses, and an expanded open world.
  • The Season of Blood introduces Blood Harvest, a Helltide event with increased mob density, and the Uber Duriel encounter, which allows players to obtain Uber Unique items.
  • It appears the drop rates for Uber Uniques might have been adjusted, providing players with a more reliable way to obtain powerful endgame items in Diablo

Diablo 4 has launched its Season of Blood, and players are already reporting several lucky Uber Unique drops from their Uber Duriel kills. While Diablo 4's Season of Blood had a delayed release, and it hit the live servers with no small amount of bugs, the actual content of the latest update has received praise from the current Diablo 4 playerbase. From mounts and gems to the new bosses and expanded open world, Season 2 lives up to the expectation of being the first major step in course correction following the wayward launch of Diablo 4.

In Season of Blood, there is less of a focus on Nightmare Dungeons, as players can now choose to tackle the endgame in Diablo 4 through other content as well. Blood Harvest is a new type of Helltide event that introduces the kind of mob density that Diablo 4 players have been asking for since beta, and the new Uber Duriel encounter lets players challenge the Lord of Pain for a chance to reliably obtain Uber Unique items appropriate for their class, as well as some of the new Uniques that launched with Patch 1.2.

Diablo 4 is Being Review Bombed on Steam

Players voice their discontent as Diablo 4 makes its debut on Steam, sparking a surge of negative reviews flooding the platform.

Now that the content is live, players such as AKnackToFlying have been able to confirm that the chances of receiving an Uber Unique from Uber Duriel land on the more generous side. The drop rate for Uber Uniques in Diablo 4 has been a controversial topic since launch, with many fans believing that the items were simply too rare for anyone to be invested in the grind. When Patch 1.0.4 allowed Diablo 4 players to obtain Uber Uniques from Helltide Chests, this was the highest engagement that the community had with the system, and it would seem that the developers took inspiration from that event when designing Uber Duriel's purpose in Diablo 4's endgame.

Considering that the stats on Uber Uniques obtained from Duriel are meant to have max rolls, it would seem that AKnackToFlying's Shako drop has a bugged Damage Reduction stat, rolling at the minimum value of 10% instead. However, if these drop rates persist long-term, players will finally have a reliable way to obtain Uber Uniques, and thus enable even more powerful Diablo 4 endgame builds through the Skill Rank bonuses provided by the Harlequin Crest, as an example.

While the population drop has been staggering for Diablo 4, fans who are on the fence about returning to the game should keep an eye out for the opening ceremony at BlizzCon 2023. As welcome as the quality-of-life changes introduced in Diablo 4's Season of Blood have been, the developers will almost certainly unveil what the future will hold for the latest Blizzard title on November 3.

Diablo 4 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
