Diablo 4 has already been met with much popularity and critical acclaim, but there are still quite a few quality-of-life features missing from the game. The lack of significant customization in Diablo 4's user interface has been a major point of criticism since the first open beta, and though Blizzard Entertainment made some speedy changes ahead of the Server Slam build, fans are hoping that the developers will take a better look in the coming months. Features such as optional map overlays, better tooltips, and being able to resize user interface elements were some of the most requested items prior to release.

However, being able to experience higher-level content has also exposed other glaring issues in Diablo 4 such as character progression, which many Early Access players seem to struggle with. Though a welcome addition to the Diablo saga, a significant part of the community has also found Diablo 4's mounts somewhat cumbersome to use. Not only do mounts unlock late in the game in Act 4, but they also suffer a long cooldown between dismounting, regardless of combat status. Thankfully, many players think that the combat in Diablo 4 is an enjoyable experience, and these systems and features can all be adjusted independently while keeping the gameplay loop largely the same.

A passionate Diablo 4 player named Glenmalt managed to compile a list of the most demanded quality-of-life features, including gem bags, auto-run, a stash search function, and a loot filter. The player customization in Diablo 4 is easily the best in its franchise, allowing fans to create their ideal Barbarian or Druid, and even being able to change their tattoos or makeup after character creation. Taking this into account, many fans found it strange that they couldn't change hairstyles as well. Though the lack of such a feature won't make or break the game, it is perplexing that the developers never considered adding the option in the first place.

Another source of frustration has been the lack of item locking. Namely, given how important loot management is in a game like Diablo 4, the ability to place gear on an ignore list for auto-sell feels like a no-brainer since the game already has a way to mark junk. Given how vast the open world in Diablo 4 is, many players have also requested that Nightmare Sigils directly teleport players to the corresponding Nightmare Dungeons, as having to manually walk to the entrance every time has the potential to easily get tedious and repetitive.

Despite the rough edges, it cannot be denied that Diablo 4 is a more complete experience at launch compared to its predecessor, and many of its shortcomings can be fixed within the first few months. As it stands, the established consensus in the community paints Diablo 4 as a decent entry in the Diablo saga with plenty of potential for growth, but a myriad of nuisances detracts from an otherwise spectacular experience.

Diablo 4 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
