A Diablo 4 myth about drop rates being affected by the number of items in a player’s stash has been busted by the game’s global community development director. Blizzard has released multiple updates since the launch of Diablo 4 Season 1 in response to fan feedback.

The storage space or Stash in Diablo 4 has been a hot topic in the community since the game launched. Players have regularly complained about running out of inventory space in the game, and also shared their own concepts to improve the current system. Thankfully, Blizzard has announced that it is working to increase Stash space in Diablo 4, but it will take some time be implemented. Now, Blizzard has had to step in to debunk a rumor which claimed that item drop rates change based on the available Stash space.

A post on Reddit claimed that the drop rates of items in the game are affected by the items players already have in their Stash. This came from a player on Diablo 4's Asia server, who claimed that the “game server scans players' inventory and stashes, in this case, legendary items or rares with 800+ item power, to adjust that player's droprate.” The post also gave a way for players to test this theory for themselves, where they could transfer all their Legendary items to alternate characters to sell/salvage them to start farming. However, Diablo 4’s global community development director, Adam Fletcher, shut this theory down and said, “This isn't true. Drop rates are not affected by items you have in your stash or inventory.”

Despite the claim having a decent amount of evidence to back it up, several community members felt that this was more of a target farming technique which remained untested in other regions as well. Target farming in Diablo 4 has been possible to a certain degree, but it doesn’t always guarantee better gear. Although, there was an instance earlier where players were able to farm Uber Uniques in Diablo 4’s Helltides, which was quickly shut down Blizzard.

Blizzard also recently suspended Trading in Diablo 4 as players started abusing the item and gold duplication glitch in the game. The community later discovered that a Crossbow worth 30 billion gold was the possible reason behind this suspension.

Diablo 4 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
