Diablo 4 Hardcore PvP has permadeath, as recently confirmed by Blizzard's Adam Fletcher. Diablo 4 will feature a Hardcore mode when it launches that includes permadeath, which means that if a player dies in the game, their character is wiped, and they have to start the game over from the very beginning.

This is expected from a Hardcore run in Diablo, but fans were unsure if the game's PvP would incorporate permadeath as well. After all, dying to AI-controlled enemies is one thing, but it's a lot easier to die at the hands of another player. Anyone hoping for respite from permadeath in Diablo 4's Hardcore PvP is out of luck, as dying in Hardcore PvP means permadeath, forcing anyone that dies to start the game over as a new character.

RELATED: Diablo 4 Beta Progress Isn't Carrying Over

Blizzard's Adam Fletcher was recently asked about Diablo 4 Hardcore PvP permadeath on Twitter, where he confirmed that Hardcore PvP does include permadeath. There are titles players can earn in Diablo 4 tied to killing other players in PvP, which means players have to purposefully set out to ruin others' runs to unlock everything. Needless to say, Diablo 4's PvP is going to be absolutely brutal and unforgiving on Hardcore difficulty.

By adding permadeath to Diablo 4 PvP, Blizzard is giving the game's PvP component serious stakes. This will enhance every PvP encounter and should make the Diablo 4 Hardcore PvP experience absolutely nerve-wracking. While it's safe to say most players are going to steer clear from this kind of challenge, this could be something that keeps hardcore, competitive players engaged with Diablo 4 for the long-term.

When is the Next Diablo 4 Beta Test?

Diablo 4 players won't get their full taste of Hardcore PvP until the game launches in June, but the good news is they don't have to wait quite that long to play Blizzard's action-RPG again. Following a successful round of beta tests, Blizzard is hosting another Diablo 4 beta test from May 12 to May 14. Dubbed the "Server Slam Weekend," this new Diablo 4 beta test won't let players carry their progress over to the full game, but it may still be worthwhile for those that want to get their hands on exclusive rewards.

Anyone that manages to get to level 20 during this new Diablo 4 beta test will get the wolf pack, the same prize offered to those who reached level 20 in the previous beta tests. Those that manage to reach level 20 and defeat Ashava during the new Diablo 4 beta will get the Cry of Ashava mount trophy for their efforts. It's disappointing that Diablo 4 beta progress doesn't carry over to the full game, but these rewards may still make it worthwhile for fans to try out the beta next month.

Diablo 4 launches June 6 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
