Diablo 4 is a great game to enjoy with friends, but players need to be extra careful when taking on bosses together. Some of the bosses in Diablo 4 are quite challenging, sometimes prompting players to employ unorthodox tactics to overcome them. Enlisting the help of a friend might seem like a great way to go, but doing so comes with its own set of potential pitfalls.

Taking on Diablo 4 in co-op mode enables players to explore the world together thanks to the robust multiplayer system; co-op partners can quest, loot, and trade together while building characters that complement each other, but this doesn't mean the game will be a cakewalk unless the World Tier 1 (Adventurer) difficulty is chosen. Unfortunately, even at the easier difficulties there are some problems that can arise unexpectedly.

A Redditor by the name of ThatSuitsGuy has shared a PSA of sorts, reminding Diablo 4 players that they can die to a boss if their co-op partner skips a cutscene. A good idea is to discuss cutscenes with one's co-op partner before taking on the game together and decide beforehand whether to skip the cutscenes or not. If it happens that one skips a cutscene for whatever reason, being in a Discord server together and alerting one's co-op partner immediately might save them from losing their life.

To make matters worse, there is a game-breaking bug associated with a certain Diablo 4 side quest that will prevent players from completing it if one of the players dies while fighting a challenging boss called Cyhrach the First Born. Cyhrach serves as the final challenge of the Call of the Ancients questline, and while the objective will be cleared once he is taken down even if one's co-op partner is dead, the next objective does not appear. Players are then forced to wait for the quest to restart; exiting or resetting the game don't seem to help, so it might be best to avoid taking on this quest with friends until Blizzard fixes the issue. It is unknown when it will be patched.

While the game might end in tragedy for many players, Diablo 4 is one of the most exciting games of 2023, a year that might be remembered as one of the best for gamers in recent history. Perhaps the issue with players getting killed when their co-op partners skip cutscenes can be resolved in a patch that either makes them unskippable in co-op mode or skips them for everyone, but for now players will have to ensure that they discuss whether they want to watch the custcenes or not before learning the hard way.

Diablo 4 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
