Diablo 4 managed to become the fastest-selling game ever made by Blizzard soon after its launch. With only four days of Early Access, Diablo 4 had an astounding release and managed to become a huge hit, with millions of hours played by gamers all over the world, mostly due to the game’s quality, coupled with heavy marketing made by Blizzard to increase the hype around it.

With the release of Diablo 3 over a decade ago, most players were eager to play the new iteration of the Diablo franchise. Diablo 4 was originally announced at BlizzCon 2019, and it had a few open beta testing phases during 2023, which allowed players to get a preview of what the new game looked like. While a few fans may have been concerned with the title’s turn to live services, Diablo 4 got pretty raving reviews, which helped to cement its popularity.

Today, soon after its release, Diablo 4 was already announced as the fastest-selling Blizzard game of all time by the developers. In the announcement, Blizzard affirmed that gamers have played Diablo 4 for over 93 million hours since June 1, when the title was launched in Early Access. There is still not any information about how many units were sold, though, but considering how high these numbers are, it’s likely selling several million units.

However, despite the excellent launch in sales numbers, a few gamers are complaining that Diablo 4 is still lacking basic features. On social media, some fans are not very happy that the title was not launched with auto-run, stash search functions, or loot filters, which are considered to be essential by a few gamers and could greatly improve the experience. That’s not to say that the launch wasn’t smooth, though, especially when compared to Diablo 3. Diablo 4 was released mostly bug-free and with an overall complete experience.

Blizzard also recently revealed that there are a few expansions coming to Diablo 4. The game will have two full seasons of content and two complete expansions, which are said to be “massive.” With the new Diablo being treated as a live service game by Blizzard, players can certainly expect more content than in the previous Diablo 3, as Blizzard will offer constant post-launch updates, including battle passes, and cosmetics. At the moment, though, not much is known about these upcoming expansions, such as their release date or any story-related details about them.

Diablo 4 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
