The wait for a mainline Diablo game is finally coming to a close, with the release of Diablo 4 on June 6, 2023. In the meantime, there are a few ways to play Diablo 4 early. A public beta begins March 17th that’s open to anyone that pre-orders the game or buys the right KFC sandwich, and an open beta begins on the 24th for anyone that wants to try Diablo 4 before they buy.
Players that opt for the pre-ordering method may miss out on some “finger-lickin’ good” chicken, but they’ll get a handful of delectable bonuses instead. There are three editions available: Standard, Digital Deluxe, and Ultimate. Each offers a suite of bonuses not just for Diablo 4 but for other Blizzard games as well. This guide covers each edition in detail to see how they compare.
How Each Edition Compares
Every edition of Diablo 4 comes with the base game (except for the Collector’s Box available elsewhere) and a set of bonuses. These bonuses come in the form of in-game items, early access privileges, and battle passes. The in-game items can be for Diablo 3 or 4, World of Warcraft, or Diablo Immortal. The standard edition, for example, comes with one item for each game. To get more in-game items for Diablo 4, players will have to preorder the Digital Deluxe or Ultimate editions.
Standard Edition
The Standard Edition comes with a neat set of quality bonus content, which helps to soften the blow of the $70 price tag games have taken on recently. Players that purchase the Standard Edition get two mounts, a handful of cosmetics, and access to the Early Beta. All in all, it’s not a bad deal, especially for players that play all four of these games.

Digital Deluxe Edition
The Digital Deluxe Edition costs $90 and comes with a few more bonuses. For an extra $20, players can get two more items for Diablo 4 (Temptation Mount and Hellborn Carapace Mount Armor) along with a Battle Pass and 4 days of early access to Diablo 4’s launch. It’s a reasonable offering, given that the Battle Pass alone will cost $10.

The Ultimate Edition is a whopping $100, and it comes with much the same as the Deluxe Edition but with some improvements. Most importantly, the Battle Pass gets upgraded to an Accelerated Battle Pass that includes 20 Tier Skips and a bonus cosmetic. The Battle Pass itself will only be useful for as long as the first Season of the game, but to sweeten the deal, Blizzard threw in an Emote called “Wings of the Creator.”

All three editions will get players into the Early Access Beta, where they can play through Act 1 as the Sorcerer, Rogue, or Barbarian. PC players will use Battle.net to install and play the beta when it’s available, but console players need to keep an eye on their email. Blizzard will send them a code they can use to access the beta. The bonus items that come with each edition will be delivered to players’ accounts as they become available.
Diablo 4 launches June 6 on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PS5.
