One exciting new feature in Diablo 4 is the inclusion of mounts as a means of quick transportation. Players will need to progress to Act 4 of the game's main story and complete the quest "Donan's Favour" to unlock access to the mounts. From there, a wide array of options will be available both in-game and as paid content from the in-game shop.

It is worth noting that the differences between mounts are purely cosmetic, and the different mounts will not have varying speeds or abilities as one might expect. Therefore, it is really a matter of personal preference which mount players decide to use, though some of the designs are more creative and interesting than others.

10 Ingot Mount

Diablo 4 Mounts Ingot Mount

The Ingot Mount is a dark black, intimidating horse with some very interesting and unique armor options. Available as an in-game purchase for 1,600 platinum, players can buy the "Weight of Gold" bundle to unlock this mount along with some very cool armor designs such as the Keras Bullion for the Ingot Mount.

The horse itself is relatively basic in comparison to some others, but its dark color and additional armor options can certainly make it stand out and appear more supernatural. For players who don't mind spending extra for purely cosmetic items, this mount isn't a bad choice at all.

9 Cavalier's Steed

Diablo 4 Mounts Cavalier's Steed

The Cavalier's Steed will be much easier to acquire and is not hidden behind any paywalls. In fact, this mount is one of the most common in the game and can be found as a loot drop across all regions of the map. Players can simply take the Cavalier's Steed reigns to a Stablemaster to unlock it.

What makes this horse appealing is its noble white color and regal appearance. The well-kept mane is also a nice touch and adds a degree of additional elegance and class to this steed. Players can then ride around truly feeling like a holy knight ridding the world of demonic evil.

8 Bloody Liquid Steed

Diablo 4 Mounts Bloody Liquid Steed

The Bloody Liquid Mount is almost the polar opposite of the Cavalier's Steed, for players who prefer a darker and more morbid appearance. This mount's gory aesthetic and leaking, bloodied appearance can present a menacing visual and certainly seems at home in the Diablo universe.

Once again, this is a common mount that can be found across many regions of the game world. Players must simply take the Reigns of the Bloody Liquid Steed to a Stablemaster to unlock it. This steed is perhaps most appropriate for dark Sorcerer types and will look good with some of their other gear.

7 Decaying Steed

Diablo 4 Mounts Decaying Steed

The Decaying Steed is a mount with an undead appearance and perhaps the most unique-looking horse available to players, and once again presents an intimidating appearance with a skeletal look along with peeling muscles and bodily abrasions. It certainly seems as though there could be an interesting story of necromancy behind this mount's appearance.

To obtain this mount, players will have to first slay Treasure Goblins, which can be found in many different locations throughout the world. The Reigns of the Decaying Steed will be a loot item that specifically drops from these types of enemies.

6 Grisly Calico

Diablo 4 Mounts Grisly Calico

The Grisly Calico mount appearance is another strikingly unique horse with whitish color but decorated with black stripes down its neck and a thick blonde mane. In addition to this, it also has large horns instead of ears, which gives it a distinctive look of some kind of demonic sorcery taking place within this horse.

The mount appearance can be unlocked from monster loot drops, but it is relatively rare to come across compared with some other mounts. Additionally, this horse has a scaly armor-like coating to its body, meaning players will not necessarily have to equip the horse with armor to make it look better.

5 Light-Bearer

Diablo 4 Mounts Light Bearer

The Light-Bearer is a special horse that is unique to players who had pre-ordered Diablo 4. In addition to the horse itself, which comes with a unique mane and branded pattern on the rear, the Light-Bearer also came with its unique armor set, which is perhaps the most impressive and regal horse armor in the game.

It is unclear whether this horse will ever become obtainable for players joining at a later date, but it is possible that this item may become available again in the future in the in-game store. For players who did preorder the game, the mount will be readily available as soon as the requisite questline has been completed.

4 Liath Icehowl

Diablo 4 Mounts Liath Icehowl

The Liath Icehowl is available as a paid accessory as part of the "Crypt Hunter" bundle. This unique horse is gray with spotted white dots and a white head. The mane is uniquely decorated with beads, giving this horse a much more natural and grounded look than some of the others.

While appearing both realistic and interesting, the Liath Icehowl is suitable for any class and looks to be a great horse for the Wanderer. In addition to this unique mount, players will also pick up new skins for the Protean Axe and Beginning's End Dagger, in addition to 800 platinum currency.

3 Primal Instinct

Diablo 4 Mounts Primal Instinct

Primal Instinct is a unique mount accessible to players who link their Blizzard and Twitch accounts and follow some further steps before they will be gifted a special unlock code. The horse itself is the most occult-looking in appearance, with a dark black coat and branded cultist symbols all over its body.

When compared with other branded horses, Primal Instinct has by far the most ornate patterns that give the beast an almost mythical aura. For players who can unlock it, this mount is sure to be a unique find and will be suited to a variety of different armor appearances too.

2 Temptation

Diablo 4 Mounts Temptation

Temptation is another mount available to players upon purchase, only this time it is restricted to the Deluxe and Ultimate editions of Diablo 4. This supernatural steed is dark red with particularly accentuated glowing red eyes, which really make it stand out from other available options.

While the horse has a muscular, almost decaying look similar to that of the Decaying Steed, Temptation definitely has a more otherworldly look about it, with much brighter colors that are sure to suit a wide range of different armors for both players and the mount itself.

1 Spectral Charger

Diablo 4 Mounts Spectral Charger Ghost Horse

The Spectral Charger is perhaps the most sought-after mount in Diablo 4 owing to its highly unique ghostly appearance. The visible skeleton housed in an ethereal body gives this horse an appearance that is both haunting and illusory at the same time. It almost appears as though this horse has been tamed or resurrected in some way.

As one might expect, this horse is difficult to obtain and will require players to progress relatively far through the game's main story. Once players have liberated the Kor Dragan stronghold in Fractured Peaks, they will then be able to participate in the Gathering Legion Zone event, in which this mount will be available as a loot drop from those events.

Diablo 4 is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
