Skill trees are back in a big way in Diablo 4, but some players think the user interface could do with a more compact presentation. One of the stronger points of how Diablo 4 classes work is that the skills are heavily front loaded, allowing fans to get a good feel on what Barbarians or Necromancers or Sorcerers can do without having to reach the level cap. While players do have their grievances with Diablo 4's character progression system, each class feels distinct and unique, with a comprehensive skill tree to tie it all together.

Taking the concept literally, the developers of Diablo 4 designed skills around an actual tree, with branches representing different options for Core or Ultimate skills, which then further branch out into specialized perks and passives. Though the skill tree in Diablo 4 has plenty of visual appeal, players are finding it difficult to navigate through its branches, especially as they reach higher levels.

A player with the name of TaaBooOne submitted his concept of a more unified skill tree for Diablo 4. As opposed to the default UI, the skills can all fit into the screen, and manage to perfectly convey all the necessary information at a first glance. His post was met with universal praise on the official Diablo 4 subreddit, with many fans stating that they preferred it over the original skill assignment menu.

It's a common opinion to think that the user interface in Diablo 4 needs a bit of work. Thankfully, the developers are aware of the criticisms, as players can expect the UI to be improved upon in the coming months. Though no concrete promises have been made, fans are hoping for map overlays, better tooltips, and a far more robust customization system for the UI. As a live service game, Diablo 4 was designed for the long-term from the get-go, and its current state at release may hardly reflect what the game will look like in a year from now.

As Blizzard Entertainment looks to the future, with two expansions already announced for Diablo 4, the first taste of new content for players will come with the launch of Season 1. Though the developers have confirmed that no main story content will drop during the Seasons as they unfold, fans can expect to see plenty of game mechanics, cosmetics, and even sizable quest chains to feature in its quarterly Seasons.

Diablo 4 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
