Diablo 4 players can safely delete the client from the beta events without impacting their launch experience. Unlike with the Server Slam, players won’t save any time by keeping their Diablo 4 beta client installed for the game’s release.

The Server Slam, Diablo 4’s final beta weekend before the game’s launch, recently ended, leaving players hungry for the game's full release. When players prepared to dive into this final free-to-play event, those who had not uninstalled the client from previous weekends were glad to find they didn’t have to reinstall Diablo 4 to participate in the Server Slam.

However, Diablo 4 players will have no such luck with the full release of the game. On his personal Twitter, Diablo global community development director Adam Fletcher recently confirmed that the Server Slam client won’t be used for the full release of Diablo 4. Rather than updating the beta client of Diablo 4, the full game will require a full re-installation of all its files. Players can safely reclaim the 80 GB required by the Diablo 4 beta by uninstalling the program without impacting their experience.

Fletcher also confirmed Diablo 4 will have a preload period before the game’s release. While Blizzard could not give an exact date, the Diablo 4 beta client was available for download about two days before the events began. Assuming it follows this precedent, players can expect early downloads to become available on or around May 31–two days before Diablo 4 early access begins on June 2.

Players can enter Sanctuary early by pre-purchasing the Deluxe or Ultimate Editions of Diablo 4. Doing so will give players up to four days to play Diablo 4 ahead of its official launch on June 6. Unfortunately, early access is only included in the premium editions of Diablo 4, so players who only purchase the Standard Edition will have to wait for the full release.

In the meantime, Diablo 4 recently began a lore series narrated by the Horadrim Lorath Nahr that goes deeper into the history of Sanctuary, and it shared a new launch trailer with footage of the boss fight with Lilith. Diablo fans who play World of Warcraft can also participate in a new crossover event celebrating the new release on May 25. Players won’t have to wait long to see how the conflict between Lilith and Inarius turns out, but they have plenty to keep them busy while they wait for Diablo 4’s launch all the same.

Diablo 4 will be available June 6 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
