A Diablo 4 player has beaten the open beta's World Boss Ashava entirely on their own and on Hardcore Mode. The open beta is potentially the last opportunity for Diablo fans to try Diablo 4 before the game's full launch in June. Those looking to experience everything the beta has to offer can gear up to take on Ashava, a 12-player Diablo 4 encounter that's only available on a specific schedule. Few, however, will reach the experience level and gear strength to take on Ashava entirely on their own.
Ashava has become the bane of inexperienced Diablo 4 beta players, likely exactly as Blizzard intended. The World Boss is devastatingly powerful and can one-shot all but the strongest players in the beta. It swings its bladed arms in wide circles, smashes its clawed hands on the ground, chomps directly in front of it, and spews poison waves and pools. Also, it often poisons with its attacks, so surviving an initial attack often leads to death afterward.
Twitch streamer, YouTuber, and ARPG expert wudijo is no simple player. They're frequently at the top of Diablo 3's seasonal Hardcore leaderboards, among other achievements. And they're bringing their talents to Diablo 4. In a recently shared video, wudijo challenges the Ashava World Boss to a solo fight and comes out victorious. It doesn't appear that they intended to do the boss solo but instead simply spawned into an instance without allies. Nevertheless, they defeated the boss with relative ease. Then they restarted the encounter and did it again.
There's nothing particularly exciting about wudijo's Diablo 4 Rogue build. They're well-geared with synergizing Legendary abilities, but not min-maxed. They do have a powerful crossbow with 457 damage-per-second, though, which is key to their quick victories. Their energy-builder is Heartseeker, which increases their Critical Strike, paired with energy-spender Rapid Fire, which also builds Critical Strike. Their remaining abilities include Shadow Imbuement and Poison Imbuement for extra damage, and both Dark Shroud and Dash for safety.
For those hoping for a trick to wudijo's solo build, there doesn't appear to be one. He simply buffs his attacks, constantly uses his abilities, and capitalizes on his high-mobility build to avoid all of Ashava's offense. If there's a trick, it's that Ashava doesn't actually do any direct damage to players. All of its attacks can be avoided with correct positioning. Dodging them isn't necessarily easy, but it's something any player has the potential to do.
Ashava is only available in Diablo 4's betas on a set schedule, and, unfortunately, they will no longer be spawning. Even if Diablo 4 beta players wanted to try and solo Ashava, they probably couldn't, though, because matchmaking is entirely automatic. It was likely a bug that allowed wudijo to solo them in the first place. Still, it's a great example of how skill-based Diablo 4's action is, even with only a fraction of the final game's content available.
