Today has been a busy day for gamers. Summer Game Fest showed off new trailers for Marvel's Midnight Suns, The Last of Us content, a ton of Sci-Fi and horror games, and more. It was then followed by Day of the Devs, as well as the Devolver Digital Showcase. The latter has a certain reputation for being out there and quirky, and if anything, this year's showcase took it to the next level.

Across its 25-minute runtime, there was Suda51 in a robot, something about counting down the whole time, a few frantic nonsensical conversations, a video game singularity, the deletion of all video games, and Devolver people dressed up as video game characters like Princess Peach running around. It was something, to say the least. This ate up the chunk of the presentation, though Devolver Digital did show off a total of five trailers. One of those was for Card Shark, a game that has recently been released, but the following four trailers are all for upcoming games.

Devolver Digital - Anger Foot

Anger Foot says it all in the title. This first-person game is a frenetic and action-packed brawler of sorts, as players run through kicking down doors, fighting enemies, and moving along. It seems a lot like a Cyberpunk take on Superhot, although without the VR and time pausing of course.

Anger Foot releases in 2023.

Devolver Digital - The Plucky Squire

Devolver Digital and All Possible Futures' The Plucky Squire is about a character named Jot, who sought adventure in a fairytale book. However, the game twists all this around, as Jot finds his way into the real world. He transports to what appears to be a kid's bedroom, and he transitions from being a flat storybook character to a full 3D model. It's not certain what adventure he's going to find exactly, but the premise is interesting nonetheless.

The Plucky Squire releases in 2023.

Devolver Digital - Skate Story

It seems skateboarding games are slowly making a comeback, but none are quite like Devolver Digital's Skate Story. Continuing the general absurdism of Anger Foot, as well as the showcase overall, Skate Story is a skateboarding game in the Underworld. Players take on the role of a demon "made out of glass and pain" who must "ollie, kickflip, and grind [their] way through the ask and smoke of the Underworld." It's all part of some grandiose quest, although exactly what that quest is remains to be seen.

Skate Story releases 2023.

Devolver Digital - Cult of the Lamb

In Cult of the Lamb, players take on the role of a possessed lamb who assembles a cult and following for some dark being that saved it. Players have to build structures, perform rituals, and give sermons, once again proving the absurdism of the showcase. Players are in a randomly generated world, face off with hordes, and defeat rival cults across four regions, all of which promise to be an interesting time.

Cult of the Lamb releases August 11.
