Devolver Digital has just released a video announcing the delay of five games, including the platformer The Plucky Squire. The video game publisher has been known for bringing great indie titles to players for over a decade. In that time, it released hits like The Talos Principle, Enter the Gungeon, Fall Guys, and Hotline Miami. Arguably Devolver Digital's biggest early success, Hotline Miami is one of the best games for John Wick fans and helped put the publisher on the map.

The company has been busy since then, releasing dozens of games with many more in the works. Devolver Digital, and the various developers it works with, are certainly busy at the moment, and fans of indie games have lots to look forward to. Unfortunately, it seems these gamers will be waiting a bit longer than expected for some highly anticipated games.

Devolver Digital has announced that The Plucky Squire and four other games are all being delayed from this year into 2024. The other titles being delayed are Stick It to the Stickman, Skate Story, Anger Foot, and Pepper Grinder. The delayed games range from 2D platformers to first-person shooters and none have a definitive release date at this time. Also mentioned in the video are games that are still set to come out this year, including Gunbrella, Wizard with a Gun, and The Talos Principle 2.

These delays are likely to be a disappointment for fans, as well as for the developers and Devolver Digital. Still, the publisher seems to be taking the setbacks in stride, making the announcement video funny and upbeat. Calling it the "Devolver Digital Delayed Showcase," the announcement was performed in the style of exciting reveals of new games, and the banter between the two hosts might elicit a few chuckles from many viewers. The Plucky Squire could take Paper Mario to another level, and having to wait another year for it will surely frustrate many. However, Devolver Digital is trying to keep fans upbeat.

Gamers can also take some consolation in all the titles that are still on track for this year. The Talos Principle is one of the forgotten puzzle games that deserve a playthrough and a sequel this year should be welcome news for fans of the original. There are plenty of other games on track for a 2023 release that should scratch that indie-itch while waiting for one of the delayed games.

The Plucky Squire could be a great alternative to Little Big Planet, and its storybook charm will likely draw lots of players. While its delay will be frustrating for some, these gamers will, hopefully, find some other games in the Devolver Digital catalog to keep them busy until next year.
