It looks like Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat is finally gearing up for a global release following a new teaser that revealed a closed beta start date as well as details about Nero, who first appeared as a playable character in Devil May Cry 4. Peak of Combat was originally known as Devil May Cry Mobile and is being developed by NebulaJoy under the guidance of Capcom's Devil May Cry development team.The development of Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat started when NebulaJoy, then known as Yunchang Game, struck a deal with Capcom to bring the action-packed gameplay of the Devil May Cry series to the millions of players who use their mobile phones for gaming. Capcom naturally kept a watchful eye on the development to ensure the final product met its high standard of quality. Since the development started in 2017, NebulaJoy has conducted several closed beta tests, with an open beta for the Mainland China market in 2021. Devil May Cry is famous for its stylish combat, and it certainly looks like NebulaJoy is successfully bringing the experience to the mobile market.

It is possible that a global open beta will follow the closed one later this year, but NebulaJoy has not announced any plans as yet. Devil May Cry has been very influential, and Capcom undoubtedly will not sign off on a product that compromises this legacy. The results and player experiences during the closed beta will likely be a good indication of how much work NebulaJoy will have to do before it can conduct an open beta and eventually fully release Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat.

Fans of the series may be more interested in Devil May Cry 6, but at this point, it hasn't even been announced. Peak of Combat may serve as a good stopgap for those who can't wait for the addictive and fast-paced combat the series has to offer. Capcom may even choose to begin remaking some of the older games in the series as it has with Resident Evil, but it's anyone's guess what the future of the series looks like beyond Peak of Combat.
