The voice actor of Deus Ex’s protagonist Adam Jensen has recently affirmed that he’s currently not working in the franchise, despite previous rumors that a game in the series may be in development. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is one of the best cyberpunk games ever released, so most fans will probably be very disappointed in case there’s no sequel ever coming up.Deus Ex: Mankind Divided was released back in 2016. The title received critical acclaim as one of the best mature sci-fi games, combining an excellent cyberpunk atmosphere with an excellent design inspired by the immersive sim genre. However, the game did not sell as well as intended to garner a sequel. Even worse, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided ended on a cliffhanger, frustrating people who wanted to see the end of the story. Because of that, several fans of the franchise are eagerly awaiting a sequel for years, and it seems that a new update may bring them some disappointment.RELATED: Eidos Montreal's New Deus Ex Game Could Be Set in South AsiaElias Toufexis, a fairly well-known voice actor who played Adam Jensen in the last two mainline Deus Ex games, has officially stated that he’s not currently working on a new Deus Ex. According to him, he’s fairly busy at the moment with new projects but, unfortunately, not with the beloved cyberpunk franchise, and has not been in contact with the developer of the series.

Last year, the journalist Jason Schreier affirmed that a new Deus Ex was very early in development. Schreier is very well-connected in the industry and often accurate, so it’s fair to say that the plans for a new game are real. This information came a few months after the Embracer Group bought Eidos Montreal from Square Enix, signaling a possible shift in the studio’s strategy. However, nothing official has been unveiled since then.

In any case, all speculation is based on rumors at this point. For instance, it seems probable that there was a game in development for the franchise last year. However, it’s unclear whether the project has been canceled or is continuing. Other rumors may indicate that the new Deus Ex could be a co-op game, or that it may be set in South Asia, as recent job listings indicated both of these possibilities. However, whether the new title will actually star Adam Jensen and continue the plot from the last game or not (and whether Toufexis will be called) is still a mystery at this point.
