While Destiny 2 is slowly slipping into the final stages of its Light and Dark saga, and therefore nearing the final shape of the franchise's rich and storied universe, the developer Bungie isn't afraid of having a bit of fun with the game amidst all the cosmic horror that's currently afoot. Lore-friendly jokes and tongue-in-cheek characters are rather common, adding more flavor to an otherwise grim narrative.

The latest example of this is, in fact, the Destiny 2 rendition of the classic King's Fall raid from the first Destiny, the old Oryx's Basketball Court Easter egg. This mysterious room was hard to get into in the first game and offered virtually nothing of interest to the players, other than an opportunity to dunk some magical orbs in a game of impromptu basketball. In Destiny 2, however, completing the puzzle will unlock the Touch of Malice Catalyst.

After King's Fall was made available in Destiny 2 on the daily reset of August 26, veteran players got to work exploring the legendary raid and figuring out what's been changed since D1. Much as was the case with the previous returning raid, Vault of Glass, King's Fall is very true to its original iteration, except with a few additions and changes to make things interesting and balanced in the current meta. Once Touch of Malice finally dropped for some lucky players, they visited Oryx's basketball court, dunked some Tomb Husk orbs, and received the Touch of Malice Catalyst, which upgrades the weapon with the Rapid Hit perk.

As Destiny 2 player Eclipse and his fireteam show in the shared video, all six players need to rapidly dunk as many Tomb Husks into the "net" as possible, and doing so in a quick enough succession should award the appropriate Catalyst to everyone who owns the Exotic scout rifle Touch of Malice. By adding this particular Catalyst to this particular Easter egg, the studio shows that it understands and cherishes the game's legacy.

Now that the raid race for the world's first King's Fall completion is over, players that avoided the difficult first completion and enjoyed Destiny 2's three new Season of Plunder activities during the event instead, can jump into the regular version of King's Fall when they catch the time. The raid already features some of the most exciting weapons available in the game, such as a scout rifle that can roll both Dragonfly and Firefly perks at the same time, so most players will want to check it out.

Those who don't have six people ready to go, however, may wish to wait until Destiny 2: Lightfall adds Guardian Ranks to the game. This feature, combined with an in-game LFG board, will allow even solo players to quickly find their raid fireteams whenever they want to. Earning Touch of Malice and getting its Catalyst should, then, both be easier tasks by the time Lightfall comes out.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
