While Destiny 2 players may be approaching the end of the Season of the Haunted, Bungie has a few more things planned before the next season arrives. Namely, the Solstice annual event is set to make its return next week at reset, and this year, things are going to be a little different than things have been in years past.

Outside of the event name change to just Solstice, this week's blog update revealed new details for the event including summer themed loot and other rewards. The EAZ event space is also changing into more of a horde style mode, where players attempt to prevent enemies from extinguishing bonfires while collecting new resources called Silver Leaves. These can be upgraded into Silver Ash, in order to upgrade Solstice armor and apply glows. To top it off, Destiny 2 players can earn loot by completing challenges via a free Event Card, and can upgrade it for 1000 silver for even more rewards.

Until then, the weekend merchant Xur is back again in Destiny 2. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he's brought for the weekend of July 15, 2022.

Where is Xur?

This weekend, players will need to head to the Tower hangar to find Xur overlooking the snowy mountains.

From the default landing zone, immediately head to the left and following the path down into the Hangar. After entering the hangar, head left again past Arach Jalaal and his Dead Orbit crew and up a metal staircase. Xur is standing on a metal platform at the back of this room overlooking the mountain ranges below.

Class Armor and Exotic Cipher

Xur's role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they're necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clanmates or finishing more challenging activities.

Xur continues to sell even more gear outside his usual content. In addition to his normal exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer.

Exotic Armor

Crown of Tempests - Warlock helmet

Although just on sale mere weeks ago, Warlocks should absolutely pay Xur a visit this week. For Warlocks that like to get their Emperor Palpatine on, the Crown of Tempests remains one of the best exotics for Stormtrance. It remains a top option thanks to the exotic perk Conduction Tines. With this item, any arc ability kills increases the recharge rate of Arc abilities and extends the duration of Stormtrance.

This is an item that all Warlocks should have as it’s one of best exotics to use with Stormcaller as it can quickly regenerate abilities for Warlocks. With the upcoming arc 3.0 subclass rework and the extremely high roll this week, Warlock's definitely should pick this one up.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +3
  • Resilience +30
  • Recovery +3
  • Discipline +16
  • Intellect +2
  • Strength +16

The Bombardiers - Hunter leg armor

Hunters can snag The Bombardiers this week, an exotic that was originally added to the game during the Season of the Dawn. These exotic boots come with the perk called Parting gift which leaves behind an explosive with a short fuse after dodging. Thanks to a season 15 buff that impacted a number of Destiny 2 exotics, these now have a secondary effect that happens based on the equipped subclass. Arc blinds, Solar burns, Void suppresses, and Stasis slows enemy targets.

While these were originally a tough item to recommend, the Season 15 update did make them a little more viable than before. However, while there are much better class exotics out there for Hunters, these remain a fun option to play around with. Plus, with the roll being on the 'okay' side of things, this is an easy item to pass on this week.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +17
  • Resilience +12
  • Recovery +2
  • Discipline +2
  • Intellect +23
  • Strength +7

Ashen Wake - Titan gauntlet

While this exotic is normally not something to get overly excited about, Titans may want to take another look at these gauntlets this time around. The Ashen Wake gauntlets, while they were improved last year inside of of Bungie's sandbox changes made to the game, can be particular fun when paired with the Grenadier perk.

Bring the Heat makes fusion grenades explode on impact and gives the player increased throw speed. Considering the newly added Solar 3.0 subclass rework, these exotics may be a bit more desirable than they were previously. Ultimately though, they remain largely situational and are not for everyone.

Solar Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +10
  • Resilience +13
  • Recovery +9
  • Discipline +19
  • Intellect +2
  • Strength +10

Exotic Weapon

It's been a while but the Suros Regime auto rifle is back again. It's perk is SUROS Legacy, which gives half of the current ammo magazine bonus damage as well as giving a chance to regenerate health after a kill. However, the gun features a second perk that lets players pick what kind of weapon they want to use. Spinning Up increases the rate of fire when the trigger is held down. On the other hand, Dual Speed Receiver slows down the rate of fire and increases the damage when the player aims down the sights.

It's a solid pickup this week, though there are currently better options for players.

Additional perks:

  • Hammer-Forged Rifling
  • Tactical Mag
  • Hand-Laid Stock

Hawkmoon and Dead Man's Tale Rolls

Since Season 16 removed the Presage and Harbinger exotic missions, Xur is also selling both Hawkmoon and Dead Man's Tale with randomized rolls. Players should visit him each weekend as he'll be carrying different rolls.
