Xur has returned again to Destiny 2, complete with new exotic and legendary gear for players to check out for a limited time. With the weekend merchant arriving once more, exotics have recently been a hot topic with the community as Bungie announced plans to nerf three very popular options. Khvostov and Red Death are seeing tweaks to their stability and recoil patterns, with the former also seeing its Ricochet Shots being altered as well, though many of these alterations are only impacting the PvP side of Destiny 2.

Speaker's Sight, a Warlock exotic helm intended to look like the former NPC of the Tower, has also been overperforming thanks to its ability to rapidly generate orbs. Given its status as a great support exotic, Bungie is suspending its ability to generate a orbs while in Crucible matches as Bungie felt the exotic was able to produce a substantial amount that would ultimately undermine the long-term health of PvP. While the PvE side of Destiny 2 is unaffected, Bungie will be revisiting the exotic down the road for a better long-term solution.

In the meantime, the weekend merchant Xur has brought a brand-new inventory of exotics and legendary gear for Destiny 2 players. Follow this guide for his current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he's brought for the weekend of June 28, 2024.

Where is Xur?

For those who may have missed it, Xur has taken up residence in the Bazaar of The Tower, so there's no more hunting when the weekend comes around.

Destiny 2 Xur

Since the Bazaar area is between both fast travel points, players can pick either one to load into. Head into the area where Ikora and Hawthorne are and look for the little Ramen Shop towards the back wall. While facing the shop, the alley is to the right, where Xur is standing.

Destiny 2 Class Armor and Exotic Cipher

Xur's role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they're necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.

Exotic Perks:

  • Actual Grandeur - Provides additional damage resistance during Nova Bomb. Nova Bomb kills grant Super energy.

Another solid exotic, that, at one point, was the go-to armor for Voidwalkers due to how strong it was. While the Skull is nowhere near that level these days, it will help Warlocks get their supers back faster, though it likely isn't at the top of the meta anymore.

Exotic Perk:

  • Hydraulic Boosters - Increases sprint speed and slide distance, and improves High Jump, Strafe Jump, and Triple Jump. Take less damage from targets when airborne.

A fairly balanced roll this week, outside the spike of Intelligence, though using mods, can make these a solid pickup.

Exotic Perk:

  • Peregrine Strike - All shoulder charge abilities (Seismic Strike, Hammer Strike, or Shield Bash) deal bonus damage when activated in the air. Damaging mini-bosses, Tormentors, or Champions with your shoulder charge refunds your melee. Provides a small benefit to the airborne effectiveness stat of all weapons.

It's a tough recommendation this week, as Xur has seemingly returned to his old tricks of giving Titan armor higher than necessary mobility stats.

  • Paracausal Shot - Final blows and precision hits with Hawkmoon grant stacks of Paracausal Charge. The final round in the magazine deals bonus damage based on the number of stacks. Stowing Hawkmoon on the final round removes this bonus.

Monte Carlo

  • Monte Carlo Method - Dealing damage with this weapon reduces melee cooldown and grants a chance to fully charge melee ability with each kill.
  • Markov Chain - This weapon gains increased damage from melee kills and kills with this weapon. Melee kills grant ammo for this weapon.

Prometheus Lens

  • Prismatic Inferno - Fires a Solar trace beam that creates a field of heat energy that grows as the weapon is fired. Sustained damage applies scorch to the target.
  • Flame Refraction - Kills with this weapon return a fraction of the ammo used to the magazine from reserves, extending the beam's duration.
