Xur has returned again to Destiny 2, complete with new exotic and legendary gear for players to check out for a limited time. As fans discovered last week, the long awaited Xur rework arrived with The Final Shape, vastly expanding his inventory with more items, catalysts, and a selection of exotic weapons alongside the typical armor selection. The change surprised most of the community as Xur wasn't mentioned in The Final Shape patch notes, so the expectation remained that Xur would operate the same way.

This week also saw the arrival of Episode 1: Echoes into Destiny 2, taking the franchise into Bungie's next phase. In fact, the studio gave Destiny 2 fans a look at all upcoming Episodes, as well as teasing the far future of the series with just a name: Codename Frontiers. While Bungie isn't talking that far into 2025 yet, Episode 2 brings back Fikrul and gives the game an almost horror feel to it. Episode 3, known as Heresy, focuses on the Hive Pantheon and will be bringing back the Dreadnaught from Destiny, giving it a new purpose filled with secrets and mysteries to uncover. .

For now, it's time to take a look at the brand-new inventory for the weekend merchant Xur, with a selection of exotics and legendary gear for Destiny 2 players. Follow this guide for his current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he's brought for the weekend of June 14, 2024.

Where is Xur?

For those who may have missed it, Xur has taken up residence in the Bazaar of The Tower, so there's no more hunting when the weekend comes around.

Since the Bazaar area is between both fast travel points, players can pick either one to load into. Head into the area where Ikora and Hawthorne are and look for the little Ramen Shop towards the back wall. While facing the shop, the alley is to the right, where Xur is standing.

Destiny 2 Class Armor and Exotic Cipher

Xur's role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they're necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.

Exotic Perks:

  • Abyssal Extractors - Void-damage kills increase ability energy recharge rate.

A solid exotic with a big problem. While the roll is nice, the big issue is with the ridiculously high mobility, which ultimately drags down the rest. As such, this one is a hard one to recommend.

Exotic Perk:

  • Probability Matrix - Increases the chaining capabilities of Arcbolt Grenades. Damaging enemies with Jolt lightning strikes and collecting Ionic Traces both grant additional Arcbolt Grenade energy. Arcbolt Grenades stun [Disruption] Overload Champions and delay their health regeneration.

As one of the older exotics in Destiny 2, it struggles to compete with many of the newer and more exciting ones available, especially with the addition of the ones from The Final Shape. This one isn't worth it unless filling out the collections area.

Exotic Perk:

  • Overflowing Light - Using an ability (grenade, melee, or Barricade) empowers the other two abilities. Empowered means abilities have faster regen, melees and grenades do more damage, and Barricades have more hit points.

The best roll this week belongs to Titans, and thankfully, mobility is where it should be for this exotic. Worth a purchase.

  • Banned Weapon - This weapon fires a 3-round burst.
  • Cruel Remedy - Kills with this weapon heal the wielder. Precision kills also refill the magazine.

Borealis

  • The Fundamentals - Changes this weapon's damage type, cycling between Solar, Arc, and Void. Grants different stats based on your selected damage type. Solar - Increases reload speed and aerial effectiveness. Arc - Increases handling and range. Void - Stability and aim assist.
  • Ionic Return - Breaking a combatant's shield, or the shield of a Guardian using a Super, with the matched damage type refills the magazine from reserves and grants bonus damage rounds. Breaking a combatant's shield with a matched damage type Ionic Return round refreshes the perk.
