One of the main reasons why Destiny 2 has such a large community of lore enthusiasts is that the franchise allows for plenty of theory-crafting about its overarching narrative progression. A particularly noteworthy point of such discussion before every new DLC release is the topic of raid bosses and encounters, and one player believes they've figured out the next one.

The imminent release of Destiny 2 Witch Queen DLC has got lore theorists whipped up in a frenzy, and RaidSecrets user LemonTheFish is convinced that the final boss of the raid will be an entity that Destiny veterans are already familiar with. Of course, before proceeding, it's worth reiterating that the following theory is precisely that, a theory.

According to LemonTheFish, the final boss of the Witch Queen pyramid raid will be a Worm God. Specifically, they are convinced that it's going to be Ur, the Ever-Hunger, one of the five ancient god-like entities that are responsible for the Hive's interstellar xenocide, and the most powerful servants of Darkness ever referenced in the Destiny lore. LemonTheFish believes that Savathun had locked Ur within the broken-down pyramid where the raid takes place and that this is the "Ancient Evil" Bungie has been warning players of.

It's worth pointing out that this wouldn't be the first time that Guardians would face off against a Worm God. The final boss of Destiny 2: Warmind DLC, for example, was the Worm God Xol, who ended up being significantly easier than most players had been expecting. According to established lore, however, it was always Xol's plan for the player Guardians to take it down, as it then funneled its life-force into the Destiny 2 Whisper of the Worm Exotic, thus siphoning power from Guardians whenever it is used.

Only time will tell whether LemonTheFish is right about the pyramid raid's final boss, of course, but it could go either way. It's a given that the enemies of Destiny 2 Witch Queen will include horrors both new and old, and the presence of another, presumably more imposing, Worm God would make sense in the end.

Whatever the case may be, players looking to prepare for the Witch Queen raid have a long road ahead of them. Odds are good that the pyramid raid will be a challenging piece of content no matter what, featuring both difficult encounters and complex puzzles. To say nothing of the secrets that the Destiny community will be pouring over in short order. With just a few short days to go before the Witch Queen DLC is out on February 22nd, the excitement and theory-crafting will only get wilder.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
