A consistent selling point Bungie has put at the forefront for Destiny 2's new expansion, The Witch Queen is the new legendary difficulty option for the campaign. The studio is promising an experience that will challenge all guardians, whether they want to tackle missions alone or in a fireteam. In the latest This Week at Bungie, the studio went deeper into what the legendary campaign experience will entail and the rewards waiting at the end of missions for players who take on the challenge.

The Witch Queen is the newest major expansion to Destiny 2 and will see guardians finally face off with the Hive god of cunning Savathun in a battle roughly seven years in the making. Guardians will be tasked with entering the Hive queen's Throne World to discover how this being of Darkness stole the Light and is now wielding the Traveler's gift. Standing between guardians and Savathun will be the Hive guardians of the Lucent Brood, which have also been imbued with the Light.

As mentioned above, the newest This Week at Bungie takes a deep dive into the legendary campaign option and the rewards waiting for players who emerge victorious. First and foremost, legendary campaign missions will reward up to three extra chests for additional XP, world pool gear, upgrade modules, and glimmer. Missions will also reward Throne World armor and unlocks faster for players trying to reach the new soft level cap of 1500.

The aforementioned rewards will be there for any players who complete single missions, but more is waiting for anyone who can complete the whole campaign on legendary. On the gear side, players will earn a set of level 1520 gear, new exotic armor typically earned from completing legendary or master Lost Sectors solo and eight upgrade modules. Additional rewards include a new emblem, a triumph required for the Throne World title, and unannounced Bungie rewards.

Bungie has repeatedly said the legendary campaign will provide players an experience on-par with other endgame activities like dungeons and grandmaster nightfalls. Given these statements, it makes sense for the studio to make the legendary campaign as rewarding as it reasonably can.

The faster path to the soft level cap will likely be a big incentive for players preparing to run the new raid. Bungie has confirmed the race to world's first for The Witch Queen raid will begin on March 5 with contest mode in effect, but, as of February 10, contest mode's level cap has not been confirmed. Until the level cap is announced, any faster route to the pinnacle cap of 1560 will be welcome to the hardcore Destiny 2 raiders.

Destiny 2 is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
