Bungie is a developer that loves to add secrets, easter eggs, referential nods, and hidden details in their games. Destiny 2 is full of this, and it has always brought up discussion within the player base. Whenever there is an update to the game the community is always on the lookout for anything new Bungie could have slipped in for us to find. It isn't exclusive to just their games either as it has been shown that Bungie will leave secrets in content outside their games as well. One of note is how one of the Wish Wall combinations within the Last Wish was found in a Forsaken trailer.

This is truly one of those instances where one can blink and miss it, but the keen-eyed are rewarded. So Bungie finds themselves in a situation where they have to quench the thirst of a forever hungry community looking through every nook and carny for something. Thankfully when the Witch Queen expansion was filled to the brim with secrets, references, and so many easter eggs it was hard to know where to start. As Lightfall is on the horizon the player base will certainly have many things to uncover.

10 Old Chicago

Old Chicago concept art revealed for Destiny 1 in 2013

This location was first seen back in 2013 before the launch of Destiny 1 as a future location within the game. Unfortunately, the location went unused as Destiny 1's lifecycle came to an end in 2017. Upon the arrival of Destiny 2, there was hope for the location to finally make its way into the game, but no confirmation from Bungie was ever given.

It would not be until the Witch Queen expansion that the location was finally used. While not exactly the Old Chicago location the swamp area in the Throne World patrol space is undoubtedly the swamp that appears in the art of what we know the location to look like. After nearly a decade of asking the terrain finally made its long-overdue debut in Destiny.

9 Savathun's Design

Savathun's design inspired by early concepts of the "Moth People"

The main antagonist of the Witch Queen, Savathun, sports an extremely striking and unique design even among the Hive. Keen-eyed Guardians will notice her design is very similar to the "Moth People" that appeared in early artwork scans for Destiny.

We know that these "Moth People" would go on to be the prototype for what is now the Hive race in Destiny. However, a lot of the insect-like aesthetic was lost in this evolution, but some core concepts were kept such as the lifecycle of a Hive being similar to that of a Moth. Savathun, more prominently her wings, show clear references to the original inspiration the Hive had from this prototype race.

8 Fynch's Voice

Hive Ghost Fynch voiced by Ian James Corlett

A former Ghost to the Lucent Brood, Fynch becomes an ally as the story unravels in the Witch Queen campaign. As he is an important character in the story many may notice his voice is quite familiar for those that happen to be big fans of anime such as Dragon Ball Z.

This is, of course, because Fynch is voiced by Ian James Corlett who is one of the first voice actors to play Adult Goku in English. He portrayed the role starting in 1995 and would go on to lend his voice for 49 episodes and 3 movies.

7 Floating Disks

Floating Disks found in Enclave Shooting Range behind Relic

Upon arrival in the Enclave and completing the crafting tutorial at the relic to craft the player's first Glaive, Guardians may notice another room behind said relic. At first glance, it may seem to be a room that would be ideal for a secret mission, but if enough time is spent there, guardians will be given full ammo indicating something further.

If the disks are damaged in any way damage numbers will be shown indicating they have some purpose. While unfortunately not a proper replacement for the Tribute Hall it does allow for players to do some basic damage testing for weapons and can be a good introduction for newer players as well.

6 Your Ship

Guardian's Telesto Ship found outside Encalve in Destiny 2

Prior to launch, the Enclave was marketed as a new social space where Guardians would be able to craft weapons and investigate strange happenings in the Throne World. As with all previous social spaces in Destiny there have always been easter eggs, secrets, or hidden details in them.

Upon first arrival at the Enclave to meet Ikora Rey Guardians may notice your ship fly in over the cliff overlooking Savathun's Ship that houses the Throne World. This little detail does appear in two other places in the tower, those being the courtyard and the hanger with the latter having to be manually summoned via a console to be viewed.

5 Golden Age

Distortion found on Mars in Destiny 2

As the story begins the player is informed that Mars has suddenly reappeared, but nobody is sure why so the Guardian is tasked with finding out. Recall that Mars was one of the planets that were removed from the game due to the involvement of The Darkness in the storyline.

Once on the planet, the player is then shown a field full of growing crops growing with a running irrigation system. However, upon closer inspection, it appears to be some sort of tear in time as the player is then informed that this is a peek into what Mars was like during the Golden Age. What isn't told to the player is that this is the first time we have seen a glimpse into the Golden Age in-game and not through cutscenes.

4 The Hidden

The Hidden appear for the first time in Destiny 2

The Hidden was presented in lore as a group of Guardians working as deep-infiltration scouts for Ikora Rey. Up to this point, they only existed in name only with Eris Morn being the only known member to ever make an appearance in-game.

This all changed during the Witch Queen campaign when for the first time, in-game, the player is not only shown The Hidden but they are also shown actively investigating and doing fieldwork on the Enclave. They also provide the quests needed to acquire the class-specific exotic Glavie's.

3 Alien Wildlife

Alien Wildlife found on Throne World in Destiny 2

The Throne World on its own is full of unique details that could warrant hours of dissection. One aspect of this is what one can find when extra attention is paid to the details in the background.

Throughout the Throne World, players will find numerous instances of unique alien wildlife that can be seen interacting with the environment. They will even directly react to the events going on in the patrol space such as peaking from the swamp when a player passes by or a worm-life creature breaching the surface occasionally.

2 "Bully" Immaru

Immaru the new Ghost encountered in Destiny 2 Witch Queen Campign

Immaru is one of the new ghosts introduced in Witch Queen alongside Fynch. He doesn't have any voice lines outside of patrols in the Throne World, but can be seen during the campaign alongside Savathun. Even more interesting is the players Ghost has a history with Immaru.

Throughout the campaign, as Guardians are traversing the Throne World, Ghost will have specific voice lines alluding to his past with Immaru. Ghost is quoted as saying "He wasn't going by "Immaru" back when he was tormenting young Ghosts"

1 Alak-Hul Returns

Alak-Hul The Lightblade returns in Destiny 2 as a Hive Guardian

Alak-Hul the Darkblade was a boss in The Sunless Cell Strike in Destiny 1. Veterans of the game will no doubt recognize him and recall the lore that Oryx took him as his foster son after Guardians killed his real son Crota in the Crota's End Raid. He was later imprisoned after an attempted rebellion against Oryx only to be later to be killed in the aforementioned Strike.

Upon his return, his name has appropriately changed to Alak-Hul the Lightblade as he wielded light-based powers now. Even more interesting is that during the boss battle whenever he teleports to the center of the arena and goes immune, orbs of power spawn which we know is only possible if a user has both light and darkness powers implying Alak-Hul retained his Darkness-based abilities.

Destiny 2 is currently available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and 5, and PC.
