Destiny 2'sWarlord's Ruin dungeon from Season of the Wish kicks off with a boss encounter almost as soon as players make it through the first halls of an ancient dark age castle perched in picturesque, snowy mountains. The first boss encounter is a big Scorn chieftain, Rathil, whose fight introduces the main mechanic of the dungeon that involves capturing special Scorn turrets with Taken orbs inside of them, as well as the Imminent Wish timer. Here's how Rathil's encounter is completed.

The encounter starts off with enemies spawning and the boss attacking the players. Kill off the ads and take cover against the boss' attacks.

Destiny 2 Warlords Ruin Rathil Encounter Taken Eyes

After a set amount of time, the players will be teleported inside hanging cages around the arena, surrounded by Taken eyes. A new timer, Imminent Wish, will also start ticking down from roughly 30 seconds. Once this timer ends, DPS starts. For now, kill off the Taken eyes floating by the cage, and the cage door will open.

Destiny 2 Warlords Ruin Rathil Encounter Taken Orbs

Around the arena, constructions that appear like Scorn Stasis turrets inside a white circle will have spawned. Players should walk inside the circle to "capture" the turrets. The more of these orbs players are able to capture, the longer the damage phase will be. Depending on how and where the circles spawn, it's also possible to capture two points at the same time. The capturing process is complete when the blighted Taken orbs inside disappear. All of this needs to be done within 30 seconds of the Imminent Wish timer beginning.

Destiny 2 Warlords Ruin Rathil DPS Phase Start

Players will know it's time to damage Rathil when the message "Rathil's hex backfires!" appears on the left side. A new timer, Naeem's Wish Empowerment, will also appear, marking the length of the DPS phase. DPS ends when the message "Rathil breaks free of the hex!" comes up.

The process then starts from the beginning, until Rathil is defeated and the players are teleported into prison cells. Rathil is a fairly straightforward boss to deal with, so fireteams have plenty of options to choose from when it comes to damage. Rocket launchers are a good option, but keep in mind that ads will be roaming around the arena and may obstruct the player's line of sight. A Well of Radiance is a standard choice for survivability here, even if it's the easiest of the three encounters.
