Highlights

  • The defeat of the Witness brings time for new threats to emerge in Destiny 2, with unresolved villains waiting to take center stage.
  • Clovis Bray, a scheming AI copy, aims for immortality and to surpass the original Traveler's gifts to humanity, despite his selfish intentions.
  • Guardians may face the cunning Savathun, the vengeful Xivu Arath, or the hate-filled Eramis in the ever-expanding universe of Destiny 2.

The universe is allowed some respite after Destiny 2’s Guardians successfully defeated the Witness in The Final Shape. With the first knife of Darkness made undone, it’s time to set the sights on new frontiers, where Guardians may face familiar threats in an expanding universe. Whilst a universe-ending threat seems unlikely for now, there is always room for another villain to be placed front and center against the Last City.

Destiny 2: Exotics From Destiny 1 That Should Return

Destiny (2014) features plenty of exciting and unique Exotics that have yet to return to the powerful hands of Guardians in Destiny 2.

Destiny 2 still has plenty of cards to play, and whilst the biggest piece has been toppled, pawns still have the potential to become queens, and these pieces move on a large board with no oppressors to keep them at bay. Plenty of unresolved villains and ones teased that have not yet been seen in the flesh, can come to stir the pot some more.

7 Clovis Bray

An Egotistical Scientist Obsessed With Humanity's Safety In His Palms

Clovis Bray AI Exo Head

A Golden Age scientist who founded BrayTech, Clovis Bray is not someone to trifle with, nor someone who lies to have his intelligence threatened. Clovis Bray is not exactly a good person, and his creation of the Exos proves just that. Clovis exists now as an AI copy of himself, desperate for immortality, and to create an artificial Traveler to surpass the original that has gifted humanity with so much.

Clovis Bray is a notorious schemer and a liar who would happily betray his family if it furthered his goals. Whilst Clovis’ plans have been quiet ever since the death of Rasputin, players can expect him to rear his head again when humanity is next threatened, as although his intentions are good for humanity, they usually serve his own ego.

6 Savathun, The Witch Queen

The Cunning Sister Of Oryx Who Always Has A Trick Up Her Sleeve

destiny-2-savathun

Savathun still lurks in the Pale Heart, and her plans have yet to come to fruition. Savathun is neither an enemy nor a friend, but it’s inevitable that she will make a power play once the dust settles. After all, the universe is in need of a new threat, as Xivu Arath is now mortal, and the Witness is dead, leaving Savathun as a Light-Bearer Hive that certainly hasn’t played all her cards.

Destiny 2: 7 Best Activities For Beginners

Beginners in Destiny 2 might be easily overwhelmed by the abundance of activities. Here's what newcomers should try doing first.

Savathun can easily grow in power and perhaps usurp the throne worlds of Oryx and Xivu Arath. It’s impossible to predict what awaits Savathun, for she thrives in the cunning act of mischief and lies, making her an ally who will only serve herself.

5 Nezarec, Final God of Pain

Nightmare Incarnate Who's Body May Be Destroyed, But He Lives On As Fear

Nezarec Fully Resurrected In The Root Of Nightmares Raid

A Disciple of the Witness, Nezarec harnesses the powers and ideals of Nightmares to unleash terror into the universe. Nezarec has died multiple times, and Guardians assumed they had given this Final God of Pain his final death in the Root of Nightmares raid. Yet, speculation among the Vanguard around his status resumes. After all, Nezarec is a god, and he boasts of living on through fear and idea, which could perhaps one day see him reforge.

Nezarec’s body is completely destroyed, that much is true. Yet, what’s stopping Nezarec from growing in power and festering in minds? His influence isn’t totaled, just loosened, so there is definitely room for Nezarec to come into play, even without the Witness to grow his strength.

4 Xivu Arath, God of War

The Vengeful Sister Of Oryx Who Has Invaded The Cabal Homeworld

Destiny 2 Xivu Arath Season 22 Season of the Witch Story Cutscene

Guardians have already faced two of the Hive’s big three with Oryx, the Taken King, and Savathun, the Witch Queen. The last of the three is Xivu Arath, the Hive God of War. Guardians have already heard the booming torment and rage of Xivu Arath’s voice and battled her forces across the Sol System. Yet, Xivu Arath has never been seen in the flesh.

Xivu Arath has conquered the Cabal homeworld of Torobatl, so it seems likely that Empress Caiatl will want to reclaim her home for her empire, and the Guardians would make perfect allies for that war. Xivu Arath is also planning something unknown, as she abandoned the Witness for her own goals, even when she perhaps needed them most, since she has been made mortal by Eris Morn, who banished her from her own Throne World.

3 Guardians

Not Every Guardian Is Hopeful And Loving Of The Light

Destiny-2-Forsaken-Era-Gambit-Drifter

Not everyone who is deserving of the Light has it, and some Light-bearers exist as warlords and immortal monsters who have forsaken morality for their own personal goals. Leaving the Last City behind, and forsaking humanity, there are some Guardians out there who prove that being good is not inherent to those with a Ghost by their side. A Guardian civil war in the wake of the Witness’ death would be grand, or, a hunt for evil Guardians who seek further Darkness.

2 Fikrul, The Fanatic

The Scorn's Leader, Cursed With Immortality And Hate

Fikrul_destiyn2forsaken

Fikrul is extremely dangerous, and his philosophy on the Scorn being the evolved state of Eliksni is one that makes him fanatical and murderous. Fikrul has been killed multiple times by Guardians, but it seems his death is never final, as he has been able to resurrect himself and other Eliksni into Scorn multiple times. Fikrul is tormented by Guardians, and he will constantly seek power to claim revenge on Guardians that have wronged him.

For years, Fikrul has remained alive, but in hiding. Fikrul’s plans have been known for a time, where he attempted to seize Ahamkara power, and even work with the Witness for a time. Yet, in the wake of the Witness’ death, and the echoes of power that have expunged from the Traveler, it’s safe to say that Fikrul will make another stand.

1 Eramis, Kell of Darkness

The Hateful Fallen Who Harbors The Darkness

Eramis from a cinematic for the Beyond Light campaign from the Destiny 2 expansion.
Eramis from a cinematic for the Beyond Light campaign from the Destiny 2 expansion.

A member of the Fallen who forged House Salvation, Eramis was the first of the Eliksni to swear against the Traveler, the Great Machine. Eramis was the first to wield the Darkness from the Wtiness, claiming the powers of Stasis to bring about a new age for her species and her growing House. Yet, when the Guardians defeated her, and she sank further into Darkness, her story developed further complexities.

Eramis is still around, and she too has abandoned the Witness. At one point, Eramis even aided the Guardians by informing them of a Shadow Legion trap. However, it seems that she is still not an ally, and her return will most likely be as a foe, with perhaps new allegiance and powers from the Witness’ echoes.
