Destiny 2's current season is coming to a close and players are eager to learn more about Season of [REDACTED]. Bungie is keeping quiet about story details, but the studio did provide a patch note preview in today's This Week at Bungie that details upcoming gameplay changes for whatever comes after Season of the Worthy.

This week also saw the release of two cinematic teasers for the unveiling of the next big chapter in Destiny 2. Bungie is doing something it's never done before — teasing the next fall expansion before revealing narrative details about the summer season. The only thing players know at the moment are a few updates coming to reward systems in Destiny 2.

Eververse is getting dialed back a bit to strike a better balance between cosmetics earned directly through gameplay versus those bought from the store. The seasonal armor set that was initially going to be sold via Eververse will be incorporated into activities instead, and, in its place, Eververse will offer the "Intrepid" set that was first available last summer.

Additionally, Bungie plans to re-introduce fan-favorite items back into the store. Players will be able to earn a total of 2300 extra Bright Dust by leveling up their Season Pass this summer. Additional changes to how Bright Dust is acquired will also be introduced, but later in the season.

The studio also revealed updates coming to Trials of Osiris based on community feedback. One of the biggest setbacks of Trials this season was that players couldn't unlock any rewards in a given week unless they reached a minimum of 3 wins in a single passage. Destiny 2 will now have a bounty that unlocks Trials Engrams for the week and grants the 3-win milestone reward of that week. This means players will still be able to earn more Trials loot even though they might not get to 3 wins. However, tokens will no longer be granted for losses.

Besides that, there will be a bigger focus on 3, 5, and 7-win rewards to highlight those win thresholds more. Increased masterwork materials and tokens will be granted on said wins, even on repeated Passages. More specifically, the Passage of Wealth's token bonus on 3, 5, and 7 wins has been doubled. All of these changes combined will provide a bigger incentive to reach the win milestones and give every player a chance at expanding their Trials arsenal.

The drop rates of older raid exotics like One Thousand Voices, Anarchy, and Always on Time will be increased, starting at 10% and reaching a maximum of 50% after 20 clears of their respective raids. This change is likely being made because there will soon be less of a reason to do old raids due to weapon sunsetting. One Thousand Voices and Anarchy are highly unique and highly coveted power weapons, and with their drop rates increased, newer players won't have to suffer through as many runs as the veterans have.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
