Bungie provides players with an update regarding a Destiny 2 glitch that has been negatively impacting the Restoration buff for quite a while. For live service style games, such as Destiny 2, bugs and glitches are fairly common place largely thanks to the number of patches and updates applied to the title. While some issues tend to be fairly minor, there have been times when players benefited, including recently when Destiny 2 players were able to craft exotic perks onto legendary weapons. While Bungie was quick to shut that bug down, players were able to create some fairly deadly weapons for a short time.

Other times, certain bugs can prove to be incredibly challenging to fix, resulting in situations where the problem persists for quite a while, leaving the fanbase largely frustrated. In fact, Solar Warlock players marked the one year anniversary of a Destiny 2 bug that prevented Celestial Fire from working with certain weapon perks like Swashbuckler and Graverobber, as well as the Sunbracers exotic gauntlets. Another longstanding Destiny 2 issue related to the buff known as Restoration, which is negatively impacted when picking up or interacting with a source that is supposed to improve it, like a Firesprite or Sunspot.

Bungie releases the newest exotic mission for Destiny 2 called Starcrossed, taking players to the Black Garden to obtain a powerful new weapon.

Thankfully, it appears as though Bungie is nearing closer to a permanent fix for the frustrating gameplay issue. In a new post on social media, the Destiny 2 community team provided a short update on where the studio is with a potential fix for the Restoration problem. Admitting that the bug has been a very complex issue that ultimately required developers to restructure how the Restoration mechanic stores the timer data and heal strength logic, Bungie had plans to release the fix alongside The Final Shape expansion. However, considering that the upcoming Destiny 2 expansion received a four-month delay, plans have changed.

While Bungie isn't promising any specific timelines for when a fix is implemented, the studio is working to move the fix up to a mid-season update. The studio is using the time to continue testing the fix and to ensure that it doesn't cause any other issues once applied. Bungie intends to keep Destiny 2 players up to date once the fix is ready to go live.

The news has been met with plenty of praise from fans eager to see a fix for this issue as not only has it been impacting the game for a long while, but it makes a number of popular Solar builds less viable than they should be. Restoration is a powerful buff that was made more prominent with Destiny 2's Solar 3.0 rework in late 2022, allowing players to regenerate health and shields while the buff is active. When paired with certain fragments like Ember of Mercy, which was supposed to grant restoration when picking up a Firesprite, players could devise ways of quickly healing themselves. However, this bug actually makes it so beneficial sources like Sunspots or Firesprites actually reduce the Restoration timer or resetting it completely.
