The next Destiny 2 update is ready for release, and Bungie has revealed a detailed maintenance timeline for patch 8.0.0.6. After The Witness' story arc concluded with The Final Shape expansion, Bungie is now focusing on fine-tuning Destiny 2. This includes updating and balancing the game's weapons, mechanics, game modes, and many other aspects. As part of this process, update 8.0.0.6 will launch on July 2, hopefully addressing more issues that concern players.

Destiny 2 released update 8.0.0.5 on June 25, fixing numerous bugs and enhancing the gameplay in general. The update removed elemental surges from dungeons and raids in response to players' complaints about the difficulty of these activities, especially after the launch of The Final Shape. Bungie also replaced the daily and weekly bounties with the classic Pathfinder system, ensuring that players can now complete a path by participating in either PvP or PvE activities without having to switch between the two.

Destiny 2 Grandmaster Nightfalls Are Back

Destiny 2 brings back one of its extremely challenging activities, Grandmaster Nightfalls, which gives players a chance to get valuable loot.

The announcement of the next update was posted by the Bungie Help official account on social media, along with a detailed timeline for the maintenance that will take place on July 2. At 6:00 AM PDT, the maintenance will commence, and sign-on and game integration features will become unavailable on the web, mobile, third-party apps, and the Bungie Store. Destiny 2 will be brought offline for maintenance at 6:45 AM, removing players from all activities and restricting logins. Players will be able to get back into the game at 10:00 AM when the update becomes available worldwide on all platforms, but they might face sign-on issues as background maintenance will still be in progress. Clan features will likely be unavailable until the background maintenance concludes at 12:00 PM PDT.

Destiny 2's Ongoing Efforts to Improve the Game

As mentioned earlier, the developers are going all-in with Destiny 2's updates and content development. After The Final Shape concluded, the seasonal activities were replaced with episodic content, divided into several Acts with different activities and Exotic Missions. According to Assistant Game Director Robbie Stevens, Act 3 of the current episode, Echoes, will feature one of the biggest Exotic Missions in Destiny 2 ever.

The developers have already revealed the roadmap for the first three episodes of Destiny 2: Echoes, Revenant, and Heresy. Heresy will be the first episode in 2025, after which the teased content Codename Frontiers will be released. Though no solid details have been revealed yet, players can assume it will be worth the wait because it was specifically teased.

Year 11 of content has been teased twice in the past month, indicating that Bungie is planning something huge to blow the minds of players. A recent interview revealed that Destiny 2 might go beyond the solar system, but no specific details were provided. These new developments leave Destiny 2 players with a lot of room for speculation before the actual release of the content. Hopefully, the wait and anticipation will pay off when Bungie releases Codename Frontiers.
