Kicking off Season of the Haunted is update 4.1.0, a positively massive patch that touches on every aspect of the game. Solar 3.0 is the star of this update, giving Solar subclasses a variety of fiery new abilities. Titans have Consecration, opening with a charge forward and an uppercut before a flaming slam into the ground. Warlocks receive Incinerator Snap, a snap of the fingers that scorches nearby targets. Warlocks also have access to Phoenix Dive, diving into the ground and healing nearby allies with a burst of radiant light. All classes also have access to all solar grenades, such as the new Healing Grenade which homes on allies, Curing them and creating a blessing that grants Restoration on pickup.

As part of a variety of reworks, a new stat called Airborne Effectiveness has been introduced. Airborne accuracy penalties have been removed, so players should encounter far fewer misses while airborne. However, while airborne, the window for scoring headshots is now much less forgiving. Players seeking to reliably score headshots will need to equip gear, weapons, and subclasses that boost Airborne Effectiveness. Stability also now mitigates flinching from taking damage, making it a useful stat when trying to remain accurate while taking hits. Destiny 2's machine guns have also received a substantial 40% damage boost in PVE, with a 20% boost against bosses.

The update contains hundreds of other minor adjustments, bug fixes, and tweaks, including a rework of Iron Banner that should make building Iron Banner reputation a bit more straightforward for newer players, especially now that Power Levels have been disabled in Iron Banner. Destiny 2 fans have a lot to look forward to with Season 17, and Bungie is likely to be busy gearing up for the next patch to fix whatever problems may spring up from so many changes.

Destiny 2 is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
